The Role

The National Vice President, Custom Network Program will lead a team of Program Directors who are accountable for all aspects of delivery to clients. This executive role oversees the overall program, integrating separate deliverables into a unified Lumen perspective. The position involves C-level reporting and presentation, as well as building and maintaining C-level relationships.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the national program team in executing our custom networks strategy, ensuring the health of all Custom Networks contracts.

  • Manage all custom network contracts, overseeing planning, forecasting, scope validation, date and milestone management, financial management, supplier management, and communications.

  • Align with stakeholders and internal customers to operational targets, measure performance, assess opportunities, and drive system and process improvements.

  • Ensure day-to-day health of custom networks programs, manage risks, and maintain communication with stakeholders.

  • Support market expansions for Sales or Network Planning for large custom network building programs.

  • Enable new custom networks programs, collaborating with Sales to set up programs for execution.

  • Implement national program and project management best practices and controls with the Enterprise PMO team.

  • Meet national financial targets, manage regional CAPEX and OPEX budgets, P&L, and drive cost efficiencies.

  • Oversee Engineering for custom networks programs, ensuring a cohesive deployment approach.

  • Implement operational best practices and objectives across deployment groups and national teams.

  • Monitor KPIs, drive continuous improvement, and implement actions to achieve business objectives.

  • Attract and retain top talent, providing strategic direction, mentorship, and development opportunities.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, General or Business; Master’s degree preferred.

  • 12+ years of experience in Program Management, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role, preferably in the Telecommunications industry.

  • Track record of leading successful multi-billion-dollar deployment initiatives and driving client value.

  • In-depth knowledge of network technologies and architectures.

  • Strong financial and business acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to innovate.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic environment with agility and resilience.

  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills.

  • PMP certification is an advantage.

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$167,580 - $223,440 in these states: AR ID KY LA ME MS NE SC SD

$176,400 - $235,200 in these states: AL AZ FL GA IA IN KS MO MT ND NM OH OK PA TN UT VT WI WV WY

$185,220 - $246,960 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI

$194,040 - $258,720 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
