JOB SUMMARY:

Southern Company is seeking two highly skilled and experienced IT Project Manager-Senior to join our Gas Technology Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing application development projects that support our gas technology services. This role requires a strong background in IT project management, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of application development processes.

The Senior Project Manager oversees several cross-functional teams to deliver medium and high-complexity projects within time, budget, and scope constraints. Handling 3-6 projects ranging from $500K to $900K each, they assemble teams, draft work plans, and manage expectations, deliverables, and outcomes for all involved parties. They track milestones, adjust plans or resources as needed, communicate status and risks, and handle change processes for assigned projects.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.

PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT project management, with a focus on application development.

Proven track record of successfully managing complex IT projects from initiation to completion.

Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.

Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Clarity, JIRA, or similar.

Knowledge of the gas industry and related technologies is a plus.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Planning and Execution:

Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.

Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget estimates.

Coordinate and lead project team meetings to ensure alignment and progress.

Monitor and track project milestones and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

Stakeholder Management:

Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring clear and consistent communication.

Manage stakeholder expectations and provide regular project updates.

Collaborate with business units, IT teams, and external vendors to ensure successful project delivery.

Risk Management:

Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues.

Develop and implement risk management plans to minimize project impact.

Escalate critical issues to senior management as needed.

Resource Management:

Allocate and manage project resources, including team members, equipment, and budget.

Ensure project team members have the necessary tools and support to complete their tasks effectively.

Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and business requirements.

Conduct regular project reviews and implement improvements as needed.

Coordinate testing and validation activities to ensure successful application deployment.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and risk logs.

Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
