Job Title: Distribution Engineer

Job Description

This position is for a Distribution Engineer to supplement the current service area of Birmingham, AL for Power Distribution. The type of projects will have some variance in nature and will include the following types of work: KV conversions, strengthening of tie lines, automation projects, copper wire replacement, and device upgrades. This scope of work is a continuation of capital upgrades and grid modernization programs that have been underway for the last several years for the footprint of this utility. Additional responsibilities can include but are not limited to add-ons or growth within customer delivery, establishing power distribution to new businesses and facilities in the area along with Joint Use/Share Services support. This position will be contract-based and located in the Metro Division of Birmingham.

Responsibilities

• Execute KV conversions, strengthening of tie lines, automation projects, copper wire replacement, and device upgrades.

• Support capital upgrades and grid modernization programs.

• Assist in customer delivery expansion and establishing power distribution to new businesses and facilities.

• Provide Joint Use/Share Services support.

Essential Skills

• Experience in Power Utility Distribution Services.

• Knowledge in electrical, engineering, design, utility, power, overhead, underground, civil, and mechanical engineering.

• Introduction or work support in the area of Distribution.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in Power Utility Distribution Services.

• Capability to work independently with minimal internal support due to understaffing.

Work Environment

The role involves spending the majority of the time within the field offices and making some trips to the service territory as needed and called for among various projects.
