McWane Science Center counts on the Birthday Party Host to provide excellent customer service and communication skills needed execute processes related to the birthday party program to all guests. This includes but is not limited to greeting, decorating, clean up, guest services and communication and send off.

This position will primarily be scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays.

Accountabilities and Major Duties

1.

Prepare for upcoming parties by organization supplies and counting inventory.

2.

Assist with ordering supplies and catering.

3.

Host birthday parties which includes greeting birthday customer, setting up assigned space (arrangement, decoration, supplies and communicating as needed with Environmental Service team) breakdown of party room(s), delivering invoice to customer and ensuring payment is complete.

4.

Facilitate on-site client contact and coordination with the Manager prior to and during parties.

5.

Present birthday party programs (if applicable).

6.

Communicate effectively with the Manager of Events regarding, but not limited to, issues, inventory and supply needs, questions, concerns, etc.

7.

Provide and maintain excellent customer service and communication to birthday guests as well as all visitors.

8.

Perform duties of Birthday Party Host with excitement and enthusiasm.

Minimum Job Qualifications

1.

Working weekends is required.

2.

High school diploma or equivalent.

3.

Flexible working hours and some evening and holiday work required.

4.

Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to work proactively and effectively to meet guests needs.

5.

Experience and enthusiasm for working with children and adults of all ages.

6.

Pleasant, outgoing personality.

7.

Confident public speaker.

8.

Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with distractions.

9.

Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.

10.

Organized and efficient work habits.

11. Proficient computer skill
