Budget Title: Senior Programmer/Analyst (SL-4)

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Binghamton University is looking for a Senior Programmer/Analyst to join our Business Systems Team which is a part of the Enterprise Systems. The Enterprise Systems is responsible for the systems infrastructure and the development and support of many of the University's online systems. The Business Systems Team identifies and builds solutions that are reliable, scalable, and based on proven technologies by vendors such as Oracle, Ellucian, SAS, InCommon, IBM, Internet 2, Apereo, D2L, and many others.

The successful candidate will work on a team that is responsible for architecting the Universities ERP (Banner) system, building and integrating applications in support of the University's student and business systems, and supporting the various departments across campus.

Areas of responsibility may include:

  • Shibboleth and CAS authentication systems

  • ID Card application development

  • Data warehouse infrastructure

  • Banner infrastructure development

  • Oracle applications including Apache, Weblogic, and Banner Workflow

  • Department specific applications such as Kronos, Maximo, or T2 Systems

The Senior Programmer/Analyst reports to the Assistant Director of the Business Systems Team and will work closely with the Administrative and Academic departments, the campus community, and other key groups/staff members within Information Technology Services (ITS).

This position may be eligible for a partial/limited hybrid work location under the NYS, Binghamton University and ITS approved remote work location agreements.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 2 years of relevant work experience

  • Experience with Oracle database administration

  • Relevant experience integrating business systems and applications

  • Experience with Linux administration

  • Experience and proficiency with JAVA

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical skills, demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, and ability to deal with ambiguity in a changing business environment

  • Proven technical skills and problem-solving abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with colleagues and customers

Preferred:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Sciences, or a related field

  • Experience in working in a large complex organization

  • Experience with Windows, LDAP, and network administration is a plus

  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or similar cloud infrastructure is a plus

  • Experience with Apache and Tomcat is a plus

  • Experience with identity management technologies (Okta, SSO, SAML, OAuth)

  • Experience with SQL relational databases is a plus

  • Experience with javascript is a plus

  • Relevant experience integrating business systems and applications

  • Experience working in a higher education or research environment

  • Experience working with Banner Student systems
