Guthrie Respiratory Therapist - Respiratory Therapy - Full Time in Binghamton, New York
Position Summary:
To perform respiratory therapy treatment modalities in all treatment areas including the Intensive Care Unit. To furnish assistance during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Treat and monitor all ventilator cases. Demonstrate knowledge or principles of growth and development and the skills necessary to provide respiratory care for patients of all age groups. Take charge responsibility and act as the physician’s assistant for bronchoscopies performed by the pulmonary and surgery physicians upon completion of both of those respective competencies.
Education, License & Cert:
The Respiratory Therapist must be recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a, Registered Respiratory Therapist or a Certified Respiratory Therapist and should possess a minimum of an A.S. or an A.A.S. degree from a COARC accredited program. Current licensure in the state of practice is required.
Experience:
Must be a graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory Therapy Program. Prefer at least one year of intensive and general care as a respiratory therapist. Will require orientation for blood gas procurement and analysis, bronchoscopy procedure, and general orientation.
Essential Functions:
Assessment, treatment and monitoring of ventilator cases in both critical care areas and medical/surgery areas.
Performs Respiratory Therapy (RT) Protocol and assessment compliant with Respiratory Care standards of practice, policies and procedures.
Recognizes an emergency situation and initiates the proper plan of action.
Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling to meet patient care requirements (changing shifts, necessary overtime, etc.)
Assists physician for bronchoscopy procedures upon completion of competency. Authorized to access medications and storage areas in the performance of essential job functions and duties.
Recommend the collection of additional pertinent data through chest x‐ray, blood gas analysis and other laboratory reports.
Evaluate pulmonary function studies.
Procure, analyze and evaluate blood for acid‐base and gas analysis. Perform oximetry.
Assists with orientation of new Respiratory Care Practitioners.
Demonstrates cost effective patient care by utilizing resources responsibly.
Other Duties:
BLS provider.
Functions independently in all patient care areas, demonstrating initiative in completing work assignments.
Supports and adheres to the Guthrie Values.

The pay range for this position is $31.96 - $50.62/hr
