Guthrie Receptionist - Volunteer Office - Part Time in Binghamton, New York

Position Summary: Serves as the initial contact for all patients and visitors entering Guthrie Health through the atrium. Responds to all incoming calls requesting information, and to arrange for patient/visitor assistance/transport as needed. Education, License & Cert: High school diploma or G.E.D required. Experience: Possesses one‐year experience in customer service‐related field. Experienced in clerical responsibilities. Must be able to read, write, and understand oral and written instructions. Essential Functions: 1. Provides information and direction to patients/visitors including in‐patient locations, appointments, departments, and/or people within the facility. 2. Knowledgeable about Guthrie health facilities, programs, and departments. 3. Enters patient/visitor transport requests into Epic system, monitors productivity and accuracy 4. Possesses proficient in‐person and telephone etiquette; basic computer skills. 5. Is focused on creating a positive patient experience, showing empathy, practicing active listening, and striving to exceed expectations. Other Duties: 1. Contacts Courtesy bus driver to arrange for transportation of patients and visitors from the entrance to the parking lot and other areas of the campus. 2. Maintains knowledge of the community to recommend shopping, motels, restaurants, churches, etc. and provides information as needed. 3. Uses two‐way radio to communicate with shuttle buses, security, maintenance, etc. 4. Assists non‐emergent transportation companies in location of out‐patients for arranged rides. 5. Attends mandatory monthly department meetings. 6. It is understood that this description is not intended to be all‐inclusive and that other duties may be assigned as necessary in the performance of this position.

Pay for the position is $16.00-22.37/hr
