POSITION - Union - Laborer Semi-Skilled (NYSEG- NY - Kirkwood - JACC) (R-06976)

HOURLY RATE - $35.45

A. Duties:

Under directive supervision of a foreman or a skilled workman may perform any one or more or several types of semi-skilled work, of a more complicated nature than that performed by a Laborer - First Class, the exercise of which requires more experience and the ability to perform such work with less supervision. May perform incidental clerical and other related or less skilled work as directed.

B. Experience, Education and Special Information Required:

  • Should have had at least one and one-half years' experience as Laborer - First Class in manual work which could be considered basic training for the particular job to which he is assigned.
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English; follow instructions and perform operations moderately complex in character. Equivalent to eight or more years of common school education.
  • Must have given satisfactory evidence that he possesses the degree of manual dexterity needed to perform semi-skilled work safely and proficiently.
  • Must be familiar with Company's Safety Rules, Pressure Method of Resuscitation, and able to render practical First Aid.
  • Must be able to qualify for automobile operator's license, where required.

C. Physical Qualifications:
  • Normal health, physique and use of senses as indicated by passing the required physical examination given by a Company physician, including color perception.
  • Strength adequate for arduous labor as circumstances may require.

D. Personal Qualifications:
  • Must be willing to work extra and/or irregular hours and/or a shift schedule.
  • Must be willing to work under unusual or special working conditions and surroundings, as well as the normal working conditions pertaining to this job.
  • Must be particularly alert in observing hazards and avoiding accidents.
