Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4)

Salary: $65,000

As the Director of Recruitment and Admissions for the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Educational Leadership, the candidate will oversee and implement all aspects of the recruitment plan. This will require, among other duties, consistent engagement with prospective students while documenting the progression from when students inquire about becoming students in TLEL to when they have applied for the appropriate program. In addition, the director will be responsible for providing academic advising to all prospective students for TLEL's programs. The candidate in this position will also facilitate and manage communications and marketing, which includes collaborating with the Office of Communications and Marketing on the TLEL Webpage, SLATE Communications, social media platforms, and event promotion.

Job duties will include the following:

  • Refine and implement a Strategic Recruitment Plan with measurable goals for all TLEL programs

  • Direct recruitment efforts for teacher and teacher leader preparation programs, coordinate some evenings, weekends, and travel to attend recruitment fairs, visit campuses, and build partnerships with universities and educational institutions

  • Develop and facilitate recruitment and other events designed to raise awareness about the teaching profession such as alumni panels, certification overview sessions, information sessions, sessions on volunteer opportunities in education, etc.

  • Provide pre-teaching advising to prospective students both from Binghamton University as well as from other colleges for TLEL's programs; refer them to program faculty as appropriate for follow-up

  • Conduct transcript reviews for prerequisite courses for in-person initial teacher preparation programs

  • Collaborate with the Office of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions, Office of Exclusively Online Education, Office of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions, and Office of Communications and Marketing to develop, maintain, and refine as needed the TLEL Webpage, all Graduate and Online SLATE Communications, and promotion materials (both print and electronic)

  • Collaborate with the Office of Communications and Marketing to promote TLEL recruitment events and activities

  • Oversee social media accounts

    Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Three to four years of progressively responsible management experience in a public sector environment including two years of supervisory experience

  • Strong organizational skills including problem-solving abilities and excellent customer service skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, in writing, one-on-one counseling, or delivering presentations

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution

  • Experience in higher education graduate student recruitment and/or admissions

  • Expertise and demonstrated success with strategic enrollment management tools and techniques
