Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)

Salary: $55,158

The State University of New York at Binghamton (Binghamton, NY) seeks a Business Office Analyst to assist Business Affairs staff with all aspects of University financial reporting and thorough analyses, including: prepare financial analysis using Business Intelligence and SAS; IPEDS Reporting; NSF HERD Reporting; Economic Impact; Annual President's Report; Annual Business Affairs Report; Facilities & Administration Cost Proposal; and financial liaison to various university-wide departments. Generate Cash Reporting metrics during various time periods, including: quarterly reports; monthly reports; providing analysis of cash reports. Assist with PhD Fee Scholarship, including validating student registration and student aid data; consolidating data into running semi-weekly file with history. Coordinate communication to campus from Business Affairs, including Listserv, BUBS Portal, and Org Charts. Assist Business Affairs staff with ad-hoc requests, including Program Economics reviews. Run reports on departmental PSR & TS expenses. Provide assistance to: Accounts Payable, Travel and Purchasing Department. Audit monthly travel card statements. Assist in auditing individual travel reimbursements during busy times. Monitor open encumbrances on a quarterly basis. Assist in year-end closeout.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field

  • 2 years of related experience in SAS, Oracle Business Intelligence

  • Demonstrated technical aptitude, analytical skills, and attention to detail

  • Excellence in time management and ability to meet deadlines

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate competing priorities in a demanding environment

  • Excellent professional written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to relay complex financial/technical advice to audiences of varying expertise

  • Ability to decipher ambiguous requests and deliver a creative, well thought out solution

  • Advanced skills in MS Excel

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite; problem solving, self-motivated learner motivated to join a hard-working team.
