Intermountain Health Sterile Processing Tech in Billings, Montana
Job Description:
The position is responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing and/or storing
procedure trays, surgical trays and equipment. Also assembles, distributes and/or delivers
disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts and supplies to fill the needs of the
Operating Room, Nursing Units, Ancillary Departments and SCL Clinics.
SHIFT: Overnights
Monday -Thursday
10pm -830am
10 hour shifts
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates and monitors sterilization equipment.
Disassembles carts and follows Universal Precautions for decontamination.
Sterilizes, disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments, packages clean supplies and instruments, maintains records for all instruments and transports sterilized items to the floor.
Assembles sterilized instruments and rechecks all instruments for cleanliness and/or impairment. Properly checks power equipment.
Takes measures to allow for easy instrument tracking including following labeling processes, use of engraver, reporting and documenting all missing instruments and implants replaced in trays.
Communicates the equipment and instrument inventory status with the Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse including order status, back orders and/or changes.
Responds to emergency situations by insuring all emergency, trauma and add-on cases are supplied properly and delivered to the Operating Room in a timely manner.
Utilizes applications and technology to accurately facilitate record keeping in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
Provides on the job training on the job training (OJT) to newly hired associates in the department.

Performs other duties as assigned.
May be required to work overtime based on business need.
May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:

Squatting: Up to 1 minute at one time and 1 hour per day. Kneeling: Up to 1 minute at one time and 1 hour per day. Climbing: Up to 1 minutes at one time and 3 minutes per day. Other Job Requirements: Fine Motor: For computer use, equipment use to complete procedures and tasks. Gross hand grasp and coupling: High level required for manual tasks as noted above. Cognition: Ability to think, reason, perceives, understands, retains memory, and has awareness. Balancing: Bodily equilibrium to deliver patient healthcare. Inside work: Almost all inside work Outside work: Rare Walking surface: Tile/carpet, cement/asphalt: mix of surfaces throughout shift. Visual acuity: 20/40 far vision and near vision in at least one eye as well as functional peripheral vision and depth perception. Talking: Must utilize clear conversational speech for effective verbal communication with patients and staff. Hearing: High level acuity to both communicate with patients and staff; and respond to alarms. Running: Rare, such as: rapid response team, code blue, etc

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
