Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for building and managing both virtual and physical computer infrastructure under the direct supervision of the Director of Cloud Infrastructure. Duties include creating, provisioning and securing systems and networks, managing software packages and repositories, administering user groups and roles, and creating and adhering to change management schedules. In conjunction with the Director of Cloud Infrastructure Cloud Infrastructure engineers will coordinate with Software Engineering teams in order to produce suitable operating environments for software systems including environments for development, testing, quality assurance, and production. Duties also include continually learning new tools and technologies as the cloud ecosystem evolves.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Active Directory Role Management

  • System Role Management

  • Network Configuration / Management

  • System Configuration / Management using Infrastructure as Code methodologies

  • Securing and Provisioning Network and System Infrastructure

  • System Update Management

  • Software Deployment Pipeline Creation / Management

  • System and Network Performance Monitoring

  • Package and Repository Configuration / Management

  • Continuous Learning

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field of study

  • 5+ years previous work experience within a cloud infrastructure, network engineering or information systems management environment

COMPUTER / APPLICATIONS SKILLS

  • Base knowledge of different programming languages, application platforms and operating systems

  • Ability to develop both Windows and Linux Shell and Python scripts

  • Knowledge of protocols, such as DNS, HTTP/S, LDAP, SMTP, and SNMP

  • Apache/Nginx/IHS, setting up proxy/reverse proxy, application server routing, load balancing (High Availability Systems)

  • An in-depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, etc.

  • Windows Server

  • Microsoft SQL Server

  • VMWare

WORKING CONDITIONS

Primarily a remote position with occasional site visits to data center and office environments as required. Must be located in Billings, Montana

Rotation within an On Call schedule required. Includes 24/7 on call schedule.

EFFORT:

Must be able to see, hear, speak and listen. Must be good communicator and listener. Constant moving (up/down/around the office area) to address questions and provide coaching. Continuous looking at a computer screen. Daily contact with management and with co-workers. Work can be stressful and requires a calm, patient demeanor. Lifting of 10 pounds or less, which can be accommodated.
