We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a(n) Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager within our Branchteam to help support our Precision Hydraulic Cylinders business. As a(n) EHS Manager you will have the opportunity to work with internal company functions and appropriate external management to sustain EHS best practices and processes. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by leading and ensuring compliance with Branch and Corporate policies and procedures, and compliance with all government mandated regulations. So, what will you be doing as a(n) EHS Manager?

  • Evaluates, analyzes, and reports branch metrics regularly to ensure continuous improvement;

  • Drives continuous improvement by managing and maintaining written EHS programs;

  • Performs and/or coordinates all EHS inspections;

  • Promotes and influences EHS engagement through communication and training programs;

  • Conducts comprehensive and effective incident investigations to determine root cause and uses findings to recommend preventative procedures and processes;

  • Drive continuous improvement by managing corrective and preventative actions;

  • Evaluates and implements programs to control, eliminate and prevent injuries and accidents;

  • Monitors and manages branch compliance regularly and implements plans to meet standards and regulations as required by state and federal agencies;

  • Interprets and answers basic EHS, EPA, OSHA, and other regulatory compliance questions;

  • Manages waste disposal and evaluates waste streams form environmental compliance;

  • Regularly reviews workers’ compensation and other local claims;

  • Delivers and manages new employee EHS orientation training;

  • Facilitates and participates in monthly safety meetings; and

  • Other duties as assigned.

    To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to maintain confidentiality in matters involving personnel and security issues.

  • Ability to recognize known/potential workplace hazards and ability to drive change.

  • Ability to present and communicate safety toolbox training.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations.

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Effective critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong effective leadership, collaboration, coaching/training and motivational skills.

  • Ability to respond to emergencies calmly and professionally.

  • Good attention to detail.

    Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety preferred but not required.

  • Minimum of 4 years job-related experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • OSHA certification preferred.

  • Facilitating and mitigating regulatory inspections a plus.
