Gardner Inspection Supervisor US-PA-Bethlehem

Job Description and Qualifications Gardner Cryogenics (a business of Air Products and Chemicals) has an immediate opening for an Inspection Supervisor at it's main manufacturing facility in Bethlehem, PA.

The Inspection Supervisor is responsible for directly supervising a team of 5 to 8 inspection and test technicians. Manufactured containers must comply with critical engineering criteria, customer specifications, design standards, and applicable regulatory codes. The Inspection Supervisor ensures that appropriate testing methods are utilized to prove the performance of Gardner's and its subcontractors' work against performance criteria. The position must balance production schedules, safety performance, and efficiency of the inspection department employees, while ensuring the quality of all work. Gardner Cryogenics is a union shop.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Day-to-day supervision of the Quality and Test Department technicians in support of the overall goals and objectives of Gardner Cryogenics, including safety, quality, production schedule and budget. Lead the Quality and Test Department technicians in compliance with Gardner's Basic Safety Process. Provide training and development to Gardner's Quality and Test Department Technicians. Coordinate with Production Foremen to prioritize Test Department resources in support of the production schedule. Complete all test and inspection documentation accurately and on-time. Lead troubleshooting and investigation efforts pertaining to nonconforming product. Assist in the development and implementation of test and inspection procedures as required to ensure product meets all design and performance specifications. Manage the calibration of standards and test equipment. Schedule external inspection agency representatives as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

B.S. in a technical discipline preferred. Experience considered in lieu of a technical degree. Strong welding and manufacturing quality experience. Supervisory experience in a union shop environment. Knowledge of non-destructive testing techniques and vacuum technology. Strong technical troubleshooting background. Ability to speak and write clearly and concisely on technical topics. Quality management systems, problem solving methodologies, and continuous improvement experience preferred. Fundamental understanding of: MRP processes, shop floor scheduling techniques, and capacity planning. Experience with MS Office Suite, (Excel, Word). Experience with SAP is preferred. Highly motivated, detail, results oriented with strong execution, organization and communication (verbal and written) skills demonstrated experience. Strong presentation skills a plus.
