JOB SUMMARY
The Platform Operations team is the business owner guiding the overall strategy, project execution, and management of the Marriott Data Platform (MDP), Marriott’s ecosystem for delivering business value through data, analytics, and activation at scale. The Senior Manager, Intel Platform Operations plays a key role, managing the day-to-day operations and projects for MDP to ultimately increase data accessibility and reliability for the broader Marriott user community. This role will work closely with Marriott’s Global Technology team, the global analytical community, and the Intelligence Products team. This leader should have a passion for enabling data to drive business strategy and outcomes for Marriott International.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience Required
4-year degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Operations Research, Business or Math or other quantitative discipline
Three or more years’ prior experience in working with cloud-based data and technology stacks in a support, product owner, or analytical role, or related technical discipline
Two or more years’ SQL experience
Two or more years’ work experience with Snowflake
Strong data analysis skills and experience
Demonstrated dedication to data integrity and quality control
Proven work experience with applying innovative technologies to solve problems
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with associates of varying backgrounds and amounts of technical expertise
Demonstrated ability to articulate clearly and present complex issues to associates at all organizational levels
Strong project management skills, with the ability to set goals, manage to deadlines and deliver business results
Education and Experience Preferred
2-year graduate degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, or technical/quantitative discipline
Proficiency and experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau and Power BI
Experience with Python, R, or other data science tools
Product ownership and knowledge of agile methodologies
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Serve as the business product owner for Marriott data platforms
Create platform standards, policies, and processes to govern, track, and optimize platform usage
Drive strategy for platform maturity and drive decisions on platform use
Create processes to support cost tracking and optimization of the MDP environment
Monitor platform usage trends and partner with Global Technology on issue remediation
Analyze system performance and usage patterns to identify opportunities for cost savings and performance improvements
Enable end-users through training and content creation to drive platform adoption
Serve as primary business POC for platform improvement projects
Evaluate and launch innovative technologies, features, and new platform capabilities in the spirit of continuous improvement
Manage platforms improvement projects and provide support to larger-scale departmental initiatives
Advise on business and Global Technology initiatives from a systems lens
Additional Responsibilities
Responds to, solves, and makes decisions on more complex/non-routine business requests with limited to moderate supervision
Provides technical guidance to team members and stakeholders as needed, and serves as point-of-contact for problem resolution
Supports Data Governance and Data Quality initiatives
Looks for ways to drive efficiency and scale of user support (automated responses, use of Generative AI, etc.)
