Role Purpose:

DAI Global Security advises and enables DAI businesses to operate securely and provides DAI staff with the tools and preparation needed to be -- and feel -- as secure as is practicable. The complexities of the environments in which DAI operates mean that these principles will sometimes conflict with each other, highlighting the individual and shared responsibility for athoughtful,precise,andproactiveapproach to managing security. DAI Business Units are accountable for project performance and for the security of their people. DAI Global Security advises and offers recommendations. DAI Business Units decide.

This role supports security risk management and duty of care for DAI staff, globally. It is a crucial internal (team) and external (DAI) facing position. The purpose of the Operations Manager is to:

  • Support, design and execute processes that corporately shape the One DAI “Be Secure” culture of global policies, practices, plans and protocols.

  • Design and deliver training content, processes and manage providers, ensuring DAI staff are provided with what is needed so they are in a state of Deemed Consent.

  • Support Global Security team coordination, operations, systems, and communications.

  • Coordination between DAI’s global portfolio of projects and the relevant Global Security Regional Representatives. Direct support to DAI’s Global Project portfolios with security plans and other day to day tasks.

Key duties and responsibilities :

· Understand and remain up to date with DAI clients’ duty of care and security risk management requirements for purposes of informing DAI Global Security (GS) policies and practices across the company and through the project lifecycle.

· Serve as the coordination point and first line of support for:

  1. DAI Global Security Systems such as: International SOS (ISOS); external and internal facing SharePoint page; Project Dashboard, Proposal Trackers; Security Briefing trackers; procurement systems such as TAMIS and Oracle.

  2. DAI Global Security policies and processes, ensuring such remain consistent with the team approach, best practices, and One DAI. Conduct annual spot checks and reviews of various DAI Business Unit ISOs, Procedures and Policies and draft updates for review and approval by supervisor. Represent Global Security in ISO meetings and necessary KPI reporting.

  3. Tracking training needs; tracking trainees, developing training materials for role specific security orientations, developing and delivering training on (as needed or in support) security best practices for travellers to various risk environments.

  4. Crisis Management: support with staff accountability and serve as Crisis Administrator where necessary, taking notes, tracking actions and supporting Crisis Coordinator and others as assigned. Maintain Global Security Incident Database.

  5. Global Project Portfolios: attend routine portfolio meetings, provide agreed upon proposal inputs, deliver orientations for project heads, Security Focal Points or Security Managers.

  6. Research and Analysis: support the team with research needs on specific research projects related to a region or security topic. Ensure Global Security Watchlist remains up to date and is summarized for further distribution on an quarterly basis.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and four years ofrelevant professional experience and a college degree. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

  • Demonstrated capability to coordinate numerous tasks simultaneously while ensuring quality of deliverables doesn’t suffer.

  • Demonstrated capability in analyzing information, synthesizing and creating reports for decision makers.

  • Self-directed with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks/competing deadlines simultaneously.

  • Proficient in MS Office applications. Knowledge of MS Planner, SharePoint and Forms.

  • Basic level of understanding of the role of security in international development, providers, and offerings.

  • Able to handle confidential and/or sensitive information with discretion.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external clients, and tailor communication style to diverse audiences.

  • Able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization and external clients from diverse backgrounds.

  • Able and willing to travel to any country where DAI currently operates, or may wish to operate, barring times when DAI Global Security has deemed travel unsafe.

  • Able and willing to adjust work schedule, if needed, to support teams located in different time zones/countries.

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Based in one of the following U.S. locations where DAI is registered: District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MA or MSc) in International Relations, Risk Management, War Studies, International Security, International Development or relevant area of study.

  • Well-developed understanding of effective contract administration & supplier management.

  • Professional working proficiency in a second language (Spanish, French, Russian, or Arabic preferred).

  • Knowledge of PowerBI, Mapping software (Google Maps, ArcGIS), etc. is a plus.

  • International short term or long-term experience as a student, Peace Corps, Military, Foreign Service, or other is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:

For employees working the United States, the full-time equivalent annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $82,417 to $96,962. Salary for part-time employees will be prorated based on actual hours worked. Actual offers will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant education, experience, skills, seniority, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Eligible U.S. based employees, will be able to enroll in medical, dental and vision insurance, plus a 401(k)-retirement plan with a company match. Additionally, employees will be eligible for company-paid annual leave (vacation & holidays), sick leave, parental leave; as well as short- and long-term disability coverage. Detailed information will be provided at the time a formal offer is extended.
