JOB SUMMARY

As a member of the Corporate and Statutory Accounting and Reporting team, the Director, Global Entity Accounting and Reporting is responsible for providing accurate, timely and actionable financial information related to Marriott’s legal entities. This team has responsibility for producing financial information needed to meet statutory reporting obligations, management of statutory audits and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial information. In addition, this position serves as a key liaison with stakeholders and partners with them on the planning and execution of tax planning strategies, entity rationalization initiatives, changes in accounting standards and corporate project/initiatives.

Responsibilities include financial statement preparation, management of statutory accounting requirements and coordination/management of statutory audits for entities incorporated in various jurisdictions, including Luxembourg and Switzerland. In addition, this position will be responsible for creating, managing, and improving processes that ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information for Marriott’s subsidiaries as well as executing the accounting requirements to support tax planning strategies and other initiatives. The Director works with significant independence, but within established guidelines, producing and analyzing financial information and legal contracts to support the accounting and financial reporting for subsidiaries. In addition, he/she will serve as a key point-of-contact for entity questions/issues for stakeholders across the organization and will manage relationships with external auditors and local advisors.

SCOPE/BUSINESS CONTEXT/EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

Statutory Financial Reporting, Analysis and Audits

• Overall responsibility for providing accurate, timely and actionable financial information for Marriott’s legal entities in Luxembourg and Switzerland. The scope of entities includes Marriott’s primary international licensing companies and related branches.

• Manage processes and procedures for producing foreign subsidiary financial statements and supporting schedules required for all local reporting requirements to include tax compliance and other statutory requirements. Leverage tools and automated processes to ensure efficient and timely completion of statutory financial statements and required disclosures.

• Ensure completion of statutory audits in a timely manner and in conjunction with local stipulated deadlines. Develop and implement ways to improve audit processes and ensure timely resolution of audit issues. Maintain strong working relationships with external auditors and other service providers.

• Management of statutory audit and accounting fees to achieve budgeted levels. Ensure adherence to internal policies governing payments.

• Execute quarterly close process for assigned entities to include calculation/recording of key intercompany arrangements and review of financial activity. Prepare financial analysis for both internal reporting needs (ex. Pre-tax Book Income, Book vs Tax Differences) as well as for presentation and discussion during quarterly Board of Director meetings.

• Monitor local financial compliance and reporting directives/pronouncements and ensure compliance with all requirements. Develop new processes and reporting, as needed, to meet new financial reporting requirements (ex. CSRD).

• Ensure compliance with all internal Governance requirements.

• Support VAT reporting and compliance activities.

Tax Strategy and Entity Rationalization Support

• Serve as key point-of-contact for on tax planning strategies and entity rationalization initiatives.

• Partner with the Tax department to understand overall tax strategies/transactions and ensure accurate and timely implementation of those strategies.

• Active participant in cross-functional team to implement accounting requirements for entities being legally dissolved, merged or sold.

Other

• Serve as point-of-contact for stakeholders across the organization as it relates to entity accounting issues. Engage with global entity teams to ensure alignment and proactively share relevant information.

• Serve as owner of Corporate Policy governing Financial Support Letters (RTR.138). Proactively monitor compliance, ensure global awareness, and update, as needed, to align with changing business needs.

• Manage a team of finance and accounting professionals, prioritize projects and workload of the team and its individual members.

• Provide support and expertise for corporate projects and initiatives. Participate in department wide projects.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Experience

• Eight or more years of progressive job experience in international accounting/finance field, including experience managing others.

• Experience with complex international accounting environment to include multiple subsidiaries, currencies and basis of accounting.

• Proven manager with ability to lead a team toward the accomplishment of organizational goals and objectives and promote a positive working environment with focus on development of team members.

Education or Certification

• BS/BA in Accounting or Finance required

• CPA or MBA preferred

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to articulate concepts to individuals at multiple levels within the organization.
