Function of the Position

The Associate Manager, Operations is a full-time member of the USG Entity Management & Banking team, embedded within the USG Regulatory Operations department. Reporting to the Principal Operations Manager, this role involves supporting strategic planning, coordination, and execution of various functions aimed to ensure efficient and compliant project operations in various jurisdictions. The Associate Manager, Operations provides guidance to less experienced staff on routine task and prioritization within the job function and may directly supervise entry level staff on a day-to-day basis. They play a critical role in driving operational readiness, organizational success, risk mitigation, and implementing quality assurance and control functions.

Staff in jobs at levelP4mustbe located inthe DC Metro Area and are expected to work from DAI’s Bethesda, MD office at least 3 days per week.

Roles and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the following key functions:

Strategic Planning & Oversight:

· Supports the Principal Manager, Operations and Regulatory Operations team during strategic planning sessions.

· Assists in making timely decisions; escalates to appropriate decision-maker as needed.

· Helps resolve complex problems with appropriate escalation and cross-departmental collaboration.

· Contributes to knowledge sharing and promotes best practices and solutions.

· Represents the team & DAI in internal and external meetings and negotiations when required.

Entity Management & Banking Operations

· Provides support on USG entity management activities and transactions, tracking internal requests and ensuring timely solutions.

· Assists in prepositioning and research efforts to identify legal, regulatory, and banking requirements for international project operations.

· Writes Statements of Work for external advisors and serves as a point of contact during related engagements.

· Supports the drafting and formatting of legal documentation, forms, reports, and internal memorandums.

· Assists with due diligence on banking providers, guides the activation and closure of bank accounts, and supports bank relationship management.

· Coordinates responses to KYC, FATCA, CDD, and AML reviews and external requests.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:

· Identifies and analyzes areas of risk, advises project teams on solutions and preventative measures, and engages with internal and external advisors to inform solutions.

· Follows up on specific action items and/or takes measures for risk mitigation and improvements across the entity management and project life cycle.

· Ensures compliance with DAI policies and procedures and, in consultation with support groups, provides recommendations for best practices (in areas such as record management, project start-up and closedown, etc.)

· Oversees and contributes to quality assurance (QA) reviews on the compliance standing of USG legal entities.

Process Optimization and Business Intelligence:

· Enhances knowledge management relevant to the department’s work, including bringing greater clarity and order to existing information resources, collaborating to expand and maintain knowledge repository and databases, and coordinating the documentation of best practices and lessons.

· Supports operational excellence initiatives aimed to enhance processes and streamline workflows.

· Implements new applications, policies, and procedures to improve operational efficiency.

Staff Management:

· Mentors and develops junior staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

· Encourages learning and knowledge sharing across the business unit.

· Provides input during performance reviews and goal setting meetings for junior staff.

· Ensures team members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully carry out their SOWs.

Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience and a college degree in a related field, such as business administration, management, international development and/or other related discipline required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, and superior analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong client service orientation with proven experience effectively supporting internal clients.

  • Experience providing operations and management support, preferably at a multinational company.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a culturally diverse environment and create inclusive work environments.

  • Demonstrated ability as main point of contact for multiple cross-company departments or business units.

  • Advanced MS Office skills, including advanced proficiency conducting quantitative analysis in Excel.

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and shift priorities quickly without compromising quality of work.

  • Authorized to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications

· Master’s degree in a relevant area

· At least 1 year of supervisory experience.

· Professional experience in risk management and/or knowledge management functions.

· Paralegal experience or training.

· Professional proficiency in a second language (French, Spanish, or Arabic preferred).

· Proficiency using Power BI or other data analysis and visualization tools.

· Knowledge of U.S. federal government regulations, policies, and procedures.

· Ability to travel internationally on assignments for DAI.

· Experience working in host countries.

· Experience working in a developing country.

Supervisory Requirements

May supervise one or more Assistants or Associates.

Compensation & Benefits:

For employees working the United States, the full-time equivalent annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $71,667 to $77,991. Salary for part-time employees will be prorated based on actual hours worked. Actual offers will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant education, experience, skills, seniority, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Eligible U.S. based employees will be able to enroll in medical, dental and vision insurance, plus a 401(k)-retirement plan with a company match. Additionally, employees will be eligible for company-paid annual leave (vacation & holidays), sick leave, and parental leave, as well as short- and long-term disability coverage. Detailed information will be provided at the time a formal offer is extended.

For employees working outside of the United States, compensation and benefits will vary based on location.
