REMOTE WORK:Blue Cross has transitioned to a hybrid workplace where employees within driving distance (50 miles) of our Berlin, VT office work Wednesdays in the office with flexibility to work remotely the rest of the week. While this position can be remote, the Senior Network & Telecommunications Engineer will be required to come to the office during any network or telecommunications events, and as needed.Applicants must reside within a four-hour drive of our Berlin, VT office.

Senior Network & Telecommunications Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with contracted consultants and vendors, the Information Security team, and Systems Administrators and Engineers to design and implement computer networks which meet internal and external constituent needs.
  • Integrate computer and network systems into the Blue Cross VT network, extended network (private/hybrid cloud) and worldwide Internet access.
  • Provide complex, high-level technical support for computer and network systems, and carry out novel and/or complex assignments requiring the development of new and/or improved techniques and procedures.
  • This position is also responsible for ongoing architecture, installation, and repair of complex voice and data communications and electronic equipment. The Engineer uses their knowledge of telephony systems, voice mail, backbone infrastructure and conferencing systems to design and recommend changes to internal and external telecom networks to support the companys call centers and other business needs.

Senior Network & Telecommunications Engineer Qualifications:

  • A bachelors degree in computer science field or equivalent is required.
  • 5+ years of network experience including Cisco and/or Check Point equipment.
  • 3+ years of telecommunications experience preferred, including PBX and Call Center software.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CCSA/CCSE, CCNP preferred, with a focus on strong information security practices.
