Walmart Senior, Software Engineer in Bentonville, Arkansas

Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Walmart Global Tech is the technical powerhouse behind Walmart Global eCommerce. We employ big data at scale from machine learning, data mining and optimization algorithms, to modeling and analyzing massive flows of data from online, social, mobile and offline commerce. We don't just engineer cool websites, mobile apps, and new services; we use our own open-source tools to create the framework. Deployment is automated and accelerated through our open cloud platform. This makes us incredibly nimble and able to adjust in real-time to our global customers

As a Senior, Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sophisticated solutions to some of the most challenging problems in engineering and computer science. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, prototype, and optimize advanced systems and algorithms, contributing to the success of our world-class platform

Your main goals are to:

  • Power Walmart's Warehouse Management System, handling billions of events daily.

  • Unify warehouse management functions which currently differ across the network of distribution centers that supply our stores globally.

  • Debug production issues with other teams across services and multiple levels of the stack.

What you'll do:

  • Work with small teams of talented engineers to build a best-in-class solutions

  • Participate in the discovery phase to come up with high level design

  • Collaborate with team members to influence the architecture and design of software and help bring quality into the design of the product

  • Be given the freedom to try new things, prove the value of your own ideas and innovations, and own them all the way to production

  • Create and maintain test suites for functional, regression, acceptance and UAT testing

  • Responsible for functional, integration, data integrity and regression in order to ensure quality of code before releasing to production

  • Participate in internal hackathons and innovation challenges!

  • Stay updated on the latest technologies both in the company and industry and be able to utilize them to good effect

  • Mentor - provide guidance and support to junior engineers and contribute to their professional growth

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of Hands-on experience in Java, Spring boot and Microservice Cloud Development

  • Some development experience with proficiency in HTML, CSS, Java Script, TypeScript, React or other similar web/mobile languanges

  • Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database technologies (MySQL/Cosmos)

  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, and algorithms, including experience with TDD and writing robust Unit Test cases and exposure to CI/CD tools, including Git, Maven, Jenkins, Azure, and aware of Agile (Scrum) methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Programming Languages: Proficient in object-oriented programming with Java.

  • Design Patterns: Expertise in creating scalable and production-ready services using industry-standard design patterns.

  • Database Management: Adept at building and maintaining database schemas for both SQL (MySQL, Postgres, Big Query) and NoSQL (Cosmos) databases.

  • CI/CD Pipelines: Experience in building automated delivery pipelines with Jenkins.

  • Cloud Platforms: Solid experience with Google Cloud Platform or other cloud platforms

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
