Position Summary...

What you'll do...

The Senior Manager, Data Analytics - Catalog role at Walmart will be a subject matter expert on Catalog data and will provide data-driven insights expertise to senior functional leadership. You will be critical at articulating the needs of the customer to executive leadership, as well as reviewing and influencing strategies to achieve business objectives. The role is located at our Home Office in Bentonville, AR.

What you'll do...

In this role, you will apply advanced data analytics skills, in-depth knowledge of systems and processes, and expertise in retail merchandising to develop insights for business and technology leaders. You will use data storytelling to communicate your findings and influence business partners. The overall goal is to measure, analyze and find opportunities to improve the health of our catalog, while helping the business operate with excellence.

You will also lead Insights projects or workstreams that you execute yourself and through the contributions of other members on the team. You will play an active role in operating the day-to-day business of the Insights Team, contributing to team best practices, advising other Insights Associates, and ensuring team best practices are adopted.

You'll make an impact by...

  • Leading Insights projects in merchandising, retail or ecommerce

  • Leading data enablement programs in partnership with engineering to design processes and systems that help build lasting inspection mechanisms

  • Leading and applying structured problem-solving techniques; continuously apply the scientific method to solve problems (e.g., DMAIC, Design Thinking, etc.)

  • Mentor Insights Associates to ensure they are adopting and applying sound problem solving techniques

  • Define problem scope by seeking opportunities to observe business operations, ask questions, and apply problem definition methods (business flow diagrams, decision trees, needs analysis, etc.)

  • Clearly communicate analysis results to varying levels of the organization. Champion & showcase your work in published internal research reports, whitepapers, and articles.

  • Develop models using multiple techniques (segmentation, decision tree, root cause, statistics, experiments, optimization, prediction, etc.) using industry tools (e.g., SQL, Python) and apply them to influence business understanding of market dynamics, problem spaces, and proposed solutions

  • Identify areas of opportunity to impact revenue and/or customer experience. Recommend actions and develop business cases. Influence business partners in implementing those recommendations

  • Explore the wealth of Catalog Data using advanced techniques in SQL, sometimes from multiple systems and locations and determine it is of appropriate quality and fit for use

  • Develop Insights data marts/models where necessary to reuse and improve Catalog data

  • Prioritize the customer by efficiently delivering results on time and of high-quality

  • Collaborate with domain leads to triage new requests & problems coming from the business and ideate on areas where cross-functional collaborations can occur

  • Collaborate with tech partners to locate data assets, govern metrics, and to ensure the data enrichments and insights data marts derived from projects follow organizational standards.

  • Are adept at technical writing

  • Are structured in your thought process and have strong problem-solving skills

  • Take a hands-on approach and have experience creating new, long-term metrics and KPIs for executive stakeholders

  • Are curious and resourceful

  • Can communicate technical concepts with clarity

  • Have advanced SQL experience

  • Have experience in optimizing and automating workflows using PySpark or other applications

  • Have experience with statistics, optimization and/or predictive modeling in R or Python

  • Have experience in analytics and /or dat science in merchandising

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Arts, Finance or related field and 4 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field. Option 2: Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field. Option 3: 6 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field.

1 year's supervisory experience.
