Purpose:
Seeking a category analyst to join Diageo’s Space Optimization team. As part of the broader category management department, this role will drive working in partnership with category managers to ensure our customer’s shelf management strategies are implemented - by providing assortment and shelf recommendations through a fact-based approach.
Complexity of Role:
Candidate will develop a solid understanding of the business, products, markets, and the needs of customers; being recognized as a shelf management expert in the Spirits category.
Complexity is high (very SKU intensive category) and flexibility is critical in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
The role requires a significant level of collaboration and the ability to build productive relationships with both internal and external partners.
Key Outputs/Results:
Maintain strong working relationships with retailer merchant teams and cross-functional partners to support objectives, goals and outcomes.
Implement planogram recommendations to increase efficiency & conversion, improving shopability, and space to sales maximising JDA and Shelf IQ technology.
Support regular reporting to highlight performance gaps and growth opportunities.
Use various data sources including syndicated data and retailer POS.
Assume ownership of assigned tools, processes, and tasks.
Experience/Skills :
Minimum 2-3 years experience required in Category Management Space Planning, preferable in CPG or Adult Beverage Categories.
Strong technical capabilities with experience in software systems relevant to the Category Management function including space planning software (JDA and/or Shelf IQ) and syndicated data sources.
Advanced computer skills; proficient in Excel and Powerpoint.
Ability to connect insight to actionable store execution.
Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills are essential.
Ability to travel 10%
