Location: Bensenville, IL

Schedule: Tuesday – Friday 10 AM to 7 PM, Saturday 7 AM – 4 PM

Status: Full Time (Non-Exempt)

Compensation: $18 per hour

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Custodial Associate ensures that the facilities are neat, clean, free from clutter and safe. Their daily routine will consist of picking up trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, or using industrial cleaning equipment to clean floors. In addition, the Custodial Associate will be responsible for cleaning, stocking bathrooms, making sure buildings are secure, cleaning windows, and minor building maintenance and repairs.

Essential Functions

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks based on a schedule created by Management.

  • Clean and sanitize all common areas. (i.e. bathrooms, hallways, breakrooms, offices, and warehouse areas)

  • Restocking items throughout the facility as needed. (e.g. soap, paper products)

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, wash and polish floors. May utilize equipment such as ride-on power scrubbers or compact floor scrubbers, as needed.

  • Empty trash receptacles and manually break down boxes. Utilize compactor or baler, as necessary.

  • Remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.

  • General outdoor services and maintenance such as mowing the lawn, sweeping entry areas, cleaning glass doors and windows.

  • Undertake occasional seasonal tasks (e.g. shoveling snow from the sidewalk or salting surfaces)

  • Clean ceiling, wash walls, dust and polishes light fixtures.

  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

  • Stage company catered lunch as well as breakdown and clean the office and warehouse lunch areas (e.g. tables, chairs, counters, fridges, microwaves)

  • Assists in maintenance of supplies and weekly supply inventories. Reports department needs to Management in a timely manner.

  • Logs daily activities in systems via provided equipment for Managerial Review.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in both office and warehouse environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving and non-moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching. The employee must be able to lift and move items over 50 pounds.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 10 AM to 7 PM and Saturday 7 AM to 4 PM.

Travel

Travel between locations may be required.

Required Education and Experience

A High School Diploma or GED or any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Ability to read and write English.

Preferred Education and Experience

Ability to safely use basic cleaning equipment. Ability to work safely with a variety of cleaning supplies. Previous sanitation experience in a production or warehouse environment preferred.
