ATTENTION APPLICANTS: This position is posted concurrently with internal voluntary transfer and bid postings. Position will be filled according to contract guidelines.

This position exists to perform custodial work - completing general maintenance and repairs to buildings and grounds. The position works with power tools, machinery/instruments and equipment, and hand tools requiring the frequent lifting, carrying, and holding of supplies and parts up to 50 pounds and rarely up to 100 pounds. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Cleaning rooms and furniture.

  • Assisting with conference room setups to include rearranging, setting up, or taking down chairs and tables.

  • Cleaning restrooms and restocking restroom supplies.

  • Maintaining floors including sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, and shampooing.

  • Landscaping such as planting, mowing, trimming, and watering.

  • Removing snow and ice from sidewalks and parking lots with snow blowers, shovels, and deicers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of different types of flooring/floor covering to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods and equipment.

  • Knowledge of cleaning products such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.

  • Skill in operating routine maintenance equipment and using hand tools (ex. lawn mowers, trimmers, floor buffer, etc.).

  • Valid Class D driver's license upon application.

  • Follow simple oral and written instruction.

  • Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.

  • Keep simple records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with powered snow removal and lawncare equipment.

  • Skill in making minor mechanical repairs to equipment.

  • Previous commercial employment in custodial building and grounds work.

  • Previous experience as a General Maintenance or General Repair Worker.
