About the Role:

As a valued member of our imaging team, you'll play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care. We are specifically seeking an experienced sonographer to perform urgent and emergent ultrasound exams on inpatients and ED patients, including limited vascular ultrasounds. Your expertise will be crucial in providing timely and accurate diagnostic information to our physicians. Imagine contributing your advanced skills in a supportive environment where your work directly impacts patient outcomes. OB/Gyn and/or AB ultrasound experience/registry preferred. Vascular ultrasound experience would also be a plus!

This variable shift position offers the unique opportunity to experience a diverse schedule, covering team vacations and absences, all while receiving your schedule well in advance so that you can plan your life accordingly. You may even have the chance to occasionally work at our beautiful Peace Island Medical Center in Friday Harbor, Washington. Enjoy the charm of island life and a change of pace while contributing to our smaller, critical access hospital on San Juan Island. This position will also participate in the call and holiday rotation schedule to ensure coverage for our patients while fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Use independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in performing diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasound equipment in various modes and techniques to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data. You'll be responsible for initial assessments, summarizing diagnostic data, and communicating this information with diagnostic images to the interpreting physician.

  • Perform most appropriate examination based on patient information through consultation with interpreting physician and/or ordering physician as necessary.

  • Record test results, prepare accurate preliminary reports with information appropriate to their scope of practice, and updates patient records for interpreting physician.

  • Organize daily work schedule and perform related clerical duties as required. May schedule and coordinate tests and prepare and maintain operational logs.

  • Maintain and calibrate equipment and order necessary supplies.

  • Prepare, supply, and equip exam rooms to meet the needs of requested examinations and to meet specific physician requirements for procedures.

  • Use independent judgment during exam to differentiate, within the scope of licensure, between normal and pathological findings.

  • Integrate previous imaging studies, laboratory results, patient history, and medical records to optimize exam.

  • Tailor exam to individual patient and utilize the most appropriate equipment settings to provide most diagnostic information for interpretation.

  • Perform other duties consistent with your scope of practice, training, experience, and licensure/registration/certification.

What You'll Bring:

  • Accredited School of Ultrasound Sonography required, or equivalent education and/or experience as required for obtaining certification/license/registration as required by the national registry through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).

  • Bachelor's Degree in Ultrasound Technology preferred.

  • Extensive experience as a Sonographer is highly preferred.

  • PACS/RIS knowledge required

  • ARDMS registration in AB and/or OB-Gyn preferred.

  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire.

  • Competitive salary range:$43.55 – $65.38 per hour. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc., plus any applicable shift differential.
