Hourly Rate: $20.00 

Position Summary:

Part time Cook position available at our Bellingham Visions Youth Treatment Center. Visions is a unique inpatient treatment facility for female youth ages 14 to 17. We have been providing intensive chemical dependency services to youth since 1999.

Under the direction of the Program Manager, candidate will help oversee the kitchen/dinning operations of this center. This includes food ordering, preparation, placement of shipment, and other duties as needed relative to kitchen functions. A person with the ability to take direction, as well as lead a team is ideal. The cleanliness of the kitchen space, presentation of food, as well as taste are all an important function of this position. This position will assist in maintaining a positive team like environment.

Duties & responsibilities:  Ensure equipment is maintained and work areas are clean, safe and orderly. Strictly adhere to procedures regarding infection control, food borne illness prevention, harmful chemical handling, fire, safety and sanitation, promptly addressing any transgression. Ensure food is prepared in a nutritional, appetizing fashion, and presented in an attractive manner. Requires production of two entrees for the proper number of residents of the center. Also must see that appropriate snacks are available to residents with special dietary needs. 

Qualifications: 

  • Must be formally trained in the culinary arts, or have equivalent experience in a kitchen setting.

  • Must have Food Safety and Sanitation Training.

  • Food Handlers permit required.

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

  • English required. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.
