FinTech at Amazon is an organization where people, technology and innovation come together to build products and solve problems for the broader finance organization. The FinTech Tax Data Products org is building the NetGen real-time tax data products from grounds up to support the Amazon global tax filing with hundreds of billions records in Petabyte-Sacle data store, and provide intuitive user experience by building Micro-Front ends web applications.

If you are passionate about building petabytes scale data solution on AWS using modern techniques in the big data space for the large scale event and the data processing and automation at scale to drive innovation in the finance space, this is the team for you.

Key job responsibilities

  • In this position, you will play a major role in the architecture, design, implementation and deployment of large-scale and complex services.

  • You will push your design and architecture limits by inventing and simplifying complex problems.

  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills, are self-driven, and can deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment.

  • You will work with Amazon engineering and business teams across the globe in planning, designing, executing and implementing new services.

  • Partner directly with other Sr. Software Development Engineers (SDEs), Principal Engineers, Technical Program Managers, Product Managers and Customers to understand features and continuously identify opportunities to build and deploy software solutions

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

  • Experience influencing software engineering best practices within your team

  • Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills

  • Able to work in a diverse team

About the team

The Amazon Tax Data Products team plays a crucial role within Amazon’s FinTech organization, overseeing a highly strategic area essential for global tax compliance. The team is responsible for delivering scalable, reliable tax data solutions that support the complex filing needs of Amazon’s tax compliance, spanning over hundreds of thousand filings annually. In addition to the core tax data responsibilities, the team also delivers of essential tools and services that empower other FinTech teams and business users. These tools enable efficient big data processing, provide self-service capabilities for business users, and enhance the overall effectiveness of Amazon’s global FinTech operations.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
