The WHS Data team is hiring a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer (Sr. BIE). The Data team spans the Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Engineering (DE) functional areas, and is responsible with providing all reporting solutions required by the WHS Organization to drive workplace safety and regulatory compliance worldwide. This Sr. BIE role will primarily support the data and reporting needs for the Business Unit BI (BU BI) team in the WHS Organization. This role regularly requires close engagement with senior leaders and principal PMs to generate insights and deep dives into core metrics that directly impact organizational strategic decisions and priorities. The role requires high proficiency in complex SQL scripting, often joining together multiple types of data sets that range from normalized summaries to raw information spanning many diverse sources. The role will need to have a high bar for ownership and work autonomously to create high-quality products for the customer. The role is required to communicate project roadmap, prioritization, and release notes of new products with customer and stakeholder groups up to senior leadership. In addition, this role will serve as team lead providing mentorship, review of product development and direction on ad-hoc leadership requests with more junior members.

Key job responsibilities

-Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of BI solutions for the complex and ambiguous problems

-Conduct deep dive analyses of business problems and formulate conclusions and recommendations to be presented to senior leadership

-Identify opportunities and key criteria to drive analytical reporting and business strategy

-Produce written recommendations and insights for key stakeholders that will help shape effective metric development and reporting

-Simplify and automate reporting, audits and other data-driven activities; build solutions to have maximum scale and self-service ability by stakeholders

-Partner with our Data Engineering team to enhance data infrastructure, data availability, and broad access to customer insights

-To develop and drive best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation

-Learn new technology and techniques to meaningfully support product and process innovation

-Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of SQL experience

  • Experience building measures and metrics, and developing reporting solutions

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Knowledge of data warehousing and data modeling

  • Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

  • 7+ years of SQL experience

  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.

  • Experience with AWS technologies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
