Amazon Software Development Engineer - II , Last Mile Planning in Bellevue, Washington

Description

With Amazon Lastmile Planning builds solutions that optimize the last mile delivery process across multiple business verticals, including same-day deliveries, grocery delivery, Whole Foods delivery, and Amazon Logistics (AMZL) delivery.

Our Technology group is responsible for building software on the intersection between science and technology that makes it possible to deliver packages.

The DSP DA Assignment team is responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that optimize the assignment of delivery routes to drivers, ensuring efficient and timely deliveries for our customers.

We collaborate closely with Routing Systems, Execution systems, and DSP partners to bridge the gap between technology and real-world challenges.

Key job responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement scalable and efficient software solutions for route assignment algorithms and systems.

• Build technology to solve real-world challenges.

• Own features from inception and design through prototyping and launch.

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code using best practices and design patterns.

• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments.

• Optimize existing systems for performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Contribute to the development of technical specifications and architecture designs.

• Mentor junior engineers and participate in knowledge-sharing activities within the team.

• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to route optimization and logistics.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
