Amazon Senior Regulatory Compliance Program Manager, Global Trade Services in Bellevue, Washington

Global Trade Services (GTS) is looking for a smart, energetic, hard-working, and creative Program Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong combination of project management skills and regulatory subject matter expertise, showing excellent judgement and instincts in decision-making.

This position is responsible for supporting Amazon’s Canadian (CA) Retail business and the North American Fulfillment Network (NAFN) compliance program focusing on US and Canada Trade and Regulatory programs. By supporting compliance approaches while creating innovative solutions to support the business, this position will have an opportunity to develop strategy, invent and build new solutions and processes, and support ongoing operations for the larger global program. We are looking for a talented program manager who has experience with global consumer product regulations to support our rapidly growing and evolving businesses.

The individual in this role will be the primary contact for CA and NAFN business teams and will work with business to understand prioritization of selection desired, partner with Regulatory Intelligence SME’s to identify the regulatory requirements to meet obligations, work with cross-functional teams to implement processes and workflows to support high risk selection. Further, this role will ensure that the team is making appropriate trade-offs to manage risk, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to scope and deliver solutions.

In this capacity, the ideal candidate must be able to think bigger about the solutions we’re implementing, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope requirements and prioritize effectively. In addition, the candidate should be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, possess strong stakeholder management skills, and influence without authority.

Key job responsibilities

  • Work with Amazon's Global Trade Services team and CA/NAFN Retail business stakeholders to define and execute goals, strategies and related metrics, drive scalable business solutions, and seek automation opportunities by leveraging technologies to ensure compliance with consumer product and trade regulations.

  • Define program strategy and roadmap to support business growth, create and drive project plans, manage implementations end-to-end and identify and implement key selection expansion initiatives that meet regulatory requirements.

  • Collect, analyze, and present data to drive decision-making.

  • Deep dive and influence technology related decisions for building tools used to expand High Risk Product selection.

  • Invent and simplify processes and requirements to enable Amazon’s Retail Supply Chain to expand product selection and availability within North America.

  • Manage and deliver complex, medium/large-scale projects end-to-end, cross-functionally and cross-countries.

  • Develop best-in-class processes, systems, and standard operating procedures and drive continual improvement.

  • Ensure that regulatory requirements are met for new products and support other functions such as Retail, Transportation, Customer Service, and Legal.

  • Design mechanisms to effectively and continuously engage with leadership and stakeholders to maintain full visibility of initiative progress, blockers and path to resolution.

  • Understand and able to execute projects using established project management principles

A day in the life

Candidate will need to use their exceptional communication skills, proven ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, including executive leadership. Will be required to collaborate by using their ability to influence, negotiate, their determination and resiliency.

Must be able to think creatively and possess strong analytical and problem solving skills and have a strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Regularly work with technical and non-technical business owners to get things done.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • 6+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent

  • Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
