Amazon Intermodal (AZIM) is building systems and capabilities to ensure that we deliver our customers’ freight, no matter how large or small, as quickly, accurately, and cost effectively as possible. To meet this goal, we are continually striving to innovate and provide best-in-class service levels while meeting our cost management and business goals.

AZIM will own 25K assets by EOY’24. To use these containers Over-The-Road (OTR), 53’ chassis are required. We are looking for a strong leader to own end-to-end asset management and vendor management for Chassis. As a Senior Program Manager, you will utilize a wide range of skills and work across major functional areas within intermodal space such as capacity management, contract management, vendor management, cost improvement initiatives, pricing and finance to drive the performance of vendor partners and will also act as the vertical lead. This role will require you to work cross functionally and understand the long-term requirements for creating chassis balancing automation product. The successful candidate will be able to take their broad skill-set and experience drive a successful P&L.. They will be able to deliver results at both a strategic and tactical level across all aspects of the business, innovate and overcome hurdles, and achieve profitable long-term growth. They will also have strong verbal and written communication skills and work effectively with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

The role will offer unique opportunity to develop the best-in-class middle mile network for the North American Amazon owned Intermodal network to deliver high quality customer experience while minimizing cost and improving fulfillment speed.

Key job responsibilities

• Supply chain, transportation, or logistic network management solution experience

• Manage and oversee various cross-functional programs, ensuring successful delivery.

• Develop and refine program strategies, effectively leading and motivating teams.

• Set clear objectives for programs, leveraging data analytics to drive improvements and achieve metrics.

• Navigate and resolve ambiguities in business scenarios, applying creative problem-solving skills.

• Foster collaboration with internal and external partners to optimize resource allocation and project success.

• Evaluate and prioritize projects in conjunction with customer needs and technical team inputs.

• Bridge gaps in team dynamics, processes, and systems, preventing common project pitfalls.

• Identify and mitigate risks, preventing them from escalating into major issues.

• Regularly communicate with senior managers, business leaders, and other stakeholders to support key business initiatives.

• Develop, implement, and oversee KPI reporting for a program portfolio, ensuring clear visibility of milestones and project performance.

• Manage and communicate project budgets effectively.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Transportation Logistics, or related field

  • 5+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience

  • Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL

  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience

  • 6+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

  • Experience building processes, project management, and schedules

  • Experience of Six Sigma/Lean analytical techniques
