Amazon is searching for an exceptional Finance Manager to partner with the Optimal Inventory Health (OIH) team-- one of the core pillars of our Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT). OIH is responsible for over $30B in inventory, where the team evaluates the outcomes of different disposition channels under the uncertainty of demand, pricing and supply to maximize the residual value of on-hand inventory while optimizing the use of constrained warehouse capacity.

You, the OIH Finance Manager, will be responsible for providing worldwide financial controllership on inventory health planning, including removals and inventory management decision-making. This role will work with operations leaders, research and technologist teams, and other finance teams across the globe. The role is in-person and located in Amazon’s Seattle/Bellevue Headquarters.

Applicants should also be interested in day-to-day finance tasks such as forecasting, reporting and data analysis, and have a passion for driving action through insights. In your function, you will be tasked with ensuring the successful execution of Amazon's global inventory programs. Your role comes with high visibility to Directors and VPs within Operations, Retail, Accounting, and Finance, as you will work on business-critical processes.

As an individual contributor, you will be part of a highly motivated finance and business team, moving fast to create and implement new solutions. Business partnering is an integral part of your role, with strong components of new product development focused on improving decision and execution, financial planning and management, and controllership mechanisms; all of which are aimed at improving our inventory position while optimizing long-term free cash flow (LTFCF).

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop predictive models for inventory health and inventory valuation allowance

  • Prepare detailed level operational planning, financial and business forecasting using large-scale statistical and data mining tools, SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos, and Excel spreadsheet modeling, and enforcing of financial controllership on operational activities

  • Evaluate new business and technology initiatives to drive prioritization of resource decisions as part of our planning process

  • Present ad hoc business analysis requiring detailed modeling to offer recommendations and drive the decision-making of senior leadership

  • Working across various Amazon functions and across geographies to provide a clear understanding of the inputs driving the inventory management decision making

  • Drive adoption of automated reporting tools and perform deep-dive analyses in conjunction with the business team to understand variances to the operating plan

  • Prepare and review financial and operational performance on a weekly/monthly basis with business team and senior management including performing ad-hoc audits of the financial metrics used for data accuracy

A day in the life

In this role, you will interacting with multiple stakeholders within Operations and Retail to help find ways to continually drive for LTFCF as we continue manage WW inventory. Additionally, you will be responsible for understanding and translating the impact of our decisions to the P&L.

SCOT Finance supports SCOT functions globally, with team members in various US and EU locations. We work hard to drive integration, knowledge sharing and fun though many miles apart. The OIH team has a global scope, while operating predominantly from Bellevue - WA.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
