Director of Public Safety Job ID: 14438 Location: Bellevue College Full/Part Time: Full Time Regular/Temporary: Regular Position Summary The Director of Public Safety reports to the Vice President of Administrative Services and is responsible for leading and directing the operations of the college's campus safety, security, and emergency operations. The Public Safety Department is a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year operation. Included in the Director of Public Safety's scope of work is emergency preparedness, college traffic and parking, crime prevention, security/safety training, and alarm/security systems, access control, and compliance with current laws and regulations including compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act. The Director of Public Safety serves as the college's Clery Compliance Officer and is responsible for publishing the Annual Fire Safety and Security Report, collecting and classifying crimes occurring within the institution's Clery geography, sending out emergency alerts, and reporting Clery crime statistics to the Department of Education. The Director of Public Safety provides leadership and oversight for the Department of Public Safety and is responsible for the administration of the Public Safety and Emergency Management programs consistent with Washington State Law, Washington Administrative Code (WAC), and college policies and procedures. The Director of Public Safety is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of campus emergency planning response and preparedness, activities, training and exercises, program development, and outreach functions to protect college students, employees, and property from any preventable harm or danger. This position oversees and ensures compliance with the fire code as directed by the Bellevue Fire Department. This position also is responsible for the oversight of the parking and traffic operations on campus as well as for access control. The Director of Public Safety is responsible for the supervision, training, and performance evaluation of the Public Safety Department. The Public Safety Director develops and tracks budget proposals for their areas of responsibility. They are responsible for the strategic plan for safety and security and receive limited guidance and have a significant degree of latitude for independent action on operations. In the absence of the Vice President for Administrative Services, the Director of Public Safety may serve as the administrator in charge (AIC) for the Administrative Services Division. Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule Position Salary Range: $93,880/year - $136,126/year The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Typically, new hire starts no higher than $104,442/year based on Bellevue College Exempt salary schedule. We offer comprehensive compensation package with salary and benefits as the main components.
