Amazon Data Engineer, Transportation Risk and Compliance (TRC) Tech in Bellevue, Washington

As a part of this mission, the Transportation Risk and Compliance (TRC) team works to maintain compliance with program policy and regional regulations at all times. TRC Tech, a support pillar of TRC, is looking for a technically skilled Data Engineer to support TRC's mission.

TRC Tech protects Amazon’s various transportation businesses by implementing scalable risk management solutions that foster continued business growth. To support the business, we build intelligent and insightful reporting such that transportation business and auditing teams can make informed decisions and maintain a healthy gearing ratio.

TRC Tech is seeking a seasoned Data Engineer who can build the most advanced data architecture and products at Amazon and in the world. Our systems audit across a multitude of transportation segments and modes both within and across international borders. This means building highly available and scalable distributed systems. In this role you will be responsible for designing and delivering large data technical solutions across the TRC organization. You will define and help launch innovative analytical applications used by Product Management, Operations, Auditors, other Dev teams, and Executives with a direct impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of flagship products that customers love and use every day.

The ideal candidate will have industry-leading data design skills, working across multiple development teams, as well as working with large data sets and data pipelines. They will have experience defining data solutions, setting up data engineering architecture, and a desire to work within a standard software development life cycle.

  • We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Bellevue, WA | Arlington, VA

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of industry experience in software development, data engineering, business intelligence, data science, or related field with a track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets

  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role with experience analyzing and interpreting data

  • Proficiency in reading and writing SQL queries

  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

  • Experience with common database structures and tools (e.g. Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.)

  • Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles

  • Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing

  • An ability and interest in working in a fast-paced and rapidly-changing environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with AWS specific solutions (e.g. Redshift, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, etc.)

  • Experience using big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Hbase, Spark, EMR, etc.)

  • Scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling and calling API data

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of data engineering experience

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience with distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions

  • Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

  • Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
