The Village of Bellaire is looking to hire a Water Treatment Plant Operator to inspect, operate and maintain the village's water treatment plant. Maintains a safe and secure work environment, performs various unskilled and skilled tasks associated with job duties outlined below.

Must obtain OEPA lab certification as soon as possible

Must obtain Class I Operators License within 2 years

Must obtain Class Il Operators License within 5 years

Must obtain Class Il Operators License within 7 years

*A One dollar ($1.00) per hour wage increase is in effect for each Class of License achieved

Essential Required Job Responsibilities of Water Treatment Plant Operator:

• Arrive for scheduled shift consistently and on time.
• Communicate with Village personnel and the public as needed.
• Inspect, operate and maintain the village water treatment plant.
• Monitor the operation of filters, pumps, and water treatment equipment Adjust flow to maintain adequate water for peak demands, fire protection, and human consumption.
• Check and adjust various chemical feed equipment as needed.
• Read in plant meters, gauges, charts, maps and complex metering devices and interpret results.
• Troubleshoot and correct problems as they occur.
• Strict observation of online analyzers for correct readings, and immediate action to keep within legal limits after confirming with Superintendent and/or experienced operators.
• Facilitate sludge removal.
• Collect and analyze water samples
• Receive and handle chemicals including bulk chemicals, pallets of chemicals and 150-pound cylinders of chlorine.
• Weigh chemicals and calculate dosage daily.
• Knowledge and performance of proper laboratory techniques necessary to operate the lab and perform required testing to obtain valid results.
• Experience and knowledge necessary to interpret laboratory results and apply them to the water treatment process as required.
• Performs Custodial duties and grounds keeping as needed.
• Physical ability to bend, squat, navigate stairs, reach above shoulder, lift 50 --- pounds and move 150 --- pound cylinders.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School Education or GED and valid driver's license

• Ability to bend, squat, navigate stairs, lift and move 50 pound cylinders
