Residential Support Counselors support individuals with mental illness within the framework of recovery and resiliency providing a positive environment which fosters the development of independent living skills, while monitoring and role modeling health and safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Resident Care
Provides positive emotional support and supervision to residents.
Maintains and submits accurate and timely documentation to meet contractual and licensing standards.
Ensures individual treatment plan is implemented and clearly documents progress toward goals.
Encourages and supports the resident’s efforts to maintain their health status through hygiene, diet, exercise, rest, and utilization of coping strategies.
Engages in team meetings relative to the resident’s plan of care and response to treatment.
Provides crisis and emergency behavior management.
Assists individuals to reach their goals/skills for independent living.
Supports independent client functioning that leads to increased skills upon discharge. Medications
Facilitates administration of medications and complete required documentation.
Check medications nightly and order through guardian hub any medications that are low.
Organize/verify Medication orders.
Keep medication areas neat and all paperwork properly filed/uploaded in medical record.
Salt walkways before day staff arrive in inclement weather.
Complete a pass down to daytime CRMA prior to leaving shift. Coverage Duties
Provide Break Coverage to each overnight staff
Cover staff needing to leave early after arriving to work and unplanned callouts.
Rotate between buildings and help overnights with general duties, and ensure all overnights are awake/alert.
Provide overnight transportation as needed.
Provide additional support to buildings with particularly acute residents.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
MHRT-1 certification upon hire or completion of certification within the one (1) year of employment.
Valid state driver’s license.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working in the mental or behavioral health field preferred.
