This opportunity is for a Therapeutic Activities Aide to provide assistance to consumers attending the Drop-In Centers in both Bedford and Somerset Counties. Responsible to open and close the center, maintain sign-in/out sheets, develop monthly calendar of activities, encourage participation, and answer or direct phone calls.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides assistance to consumers attending the Drop-In Centers in both Bedford and Somerset Counties in an efficient and effective manner. Responsible to open and close the center, ensure the center is reasonably clean, free of any hazards, and uncluttered at the end of each day, and ensure the sign in/out sheets are available for participants on a daily basis. The Therapeutic Activities Aide is responsible to monitor participants signing in and out each day, as well as providing transportation for identified consumers to and from the center, as assigned.
Responsible to notify the Center Coordinator and/or Program Director of any incidents, issues, or problems when they occur in a timely fashion. Assist with development and distribution of a monthly calendar of activities in conjunction with the Center Coordinator and encourage participants in their involvement in the center's activities. Maintain vehicle in accordance with agency policies and report all maintenance needs to the Center Coordinator and/or Program Director. Participate in all required trainings, answer phone and direct calls as needed, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Hours may vary due to consumer needs or activities. On occasion, staff may need to work hours outside of the set work week to complete projects, meet work demands, or in the event of an emergency. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Six months as an Aide Trainee; or One year of experience working with persons with mental or physical disabilities; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history cle rance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
