Job Description: We are looking for a competent dental assistant who will make our office more efficient and pleasant for patients. Youll ensure excellent customer service and lift administrative and basic dental tasks off the dentists shoulders. Dental assistants should be well-organized with great attention to detail. You should be able to follow instructions and respect dental office regulations. We want you to be skilled in providing direct or indirect patient care and able to make office procedures as smooth as possible. * Dental Assistant Responsibilities: Preparing patients for dental work and asking about the patient's medical history, patient vital signs and checking patients temperature; Helping with infection control by sterilizing and disinfecting instruments, setting up instrument trays, preparing materials, and assisting with dental procedures; Assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures; Assisting dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification; emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory; Assisting dental hygienists with procedures when necessary; Recording treatment information in patient records; Exposing dental x-rays from dental diagnostics and caring for dental x-ray equipment; Giving patients information on dental hygiene, oral health care, and plaque control programs; Providing postoperative instructions as directed by the dentist; Forming preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts; Fabricating temporary restorations and custom impressions from preliminary impressions; Providing patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment; procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling); Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling); Taking impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth); Performing office management tasks that often require the use of an office computer; Communicating with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing and ordering supplies); Helping to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and oral surgery; Readies patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient. Dental Assistant Requirements: 1+ years in a dental office; Certification or associate degree in an accredited dental assistance program; Dental x-ray certification; High school diploma or higher; Proof of Hepatitis B vaccination; Experience using computers for a variety of tasks; Good written and verbal communication skills; Able to provide great patient care; Ability to work effectively with managers, co-workers, members of the public and professional groups; Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, concisely with others (internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing), consistently demonstrate positive/proactive customer service attitude. Consistently maintains ethical behaviors exemplary of quality public service and fair standards, inclusively, among all employees and members of the public; Ability to work as an effective team member; function independently, exercise sound judgment and initiative; be flexible to shift priorities; maintain confidentiality; establish and maintain effective interpersonal work relationships, effectively assist providers; work toward goals and objectives of draft priorities. Certification: Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Certificate; Expanded Duties for Orthodontic Assistants Certificate; Expanded Duties Certificate; Certified Preventive Functions Dental Assistant Certification (CPFDA certification), which includes coronal polishing.
