Description POSITION SUMMARY The EHS Manager is responsible for ensuring that Liberty Paper meets environmental, health, and safety compliance by strategically managing and developing systems, processes, and procedures to promote a positive safety culture, resulting in an injury-free and healthy workplace. Key responsibilities include leading incident investigations, environmental and product stewardship, sustainability, security, and driving continuous improvement in EHS practices. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Strategically manages and coordinates multiple aspects of the Environmental, Health and Safety programs to be compliant with regulations and company standards while maintaining the emphasis on safety and driving a culture of best practice standardization. Develop effective communication processes to make safety priorities and performance visible. Leads robust incident investigations with effective problem solving and diligent follow up. Assign and track all EHS activities, corrective action plans, and tasks to completion and update as needed. Maintains appropriate documentation. Assesses programs against performance standards and develops corrective action plans to close gaps. Ensures that all necessary reports and other requirements are submitted to regulatory agencies and other government bodies as required. Recognizes, evaluates, recommends, and implements practices and procedures to assure awareness of and compliance with EHS requirements of the organization. Review capital projects for safety and environmental impacts and permitting requirements; provide management with details of permit requirements and timelines. Leads deliberate improvement efforts to elevate/optimize EHS performance by setting EHS goals, monitoring, and reporting on performance. Directs audits and reviews of programs to identify and control significant loss producing exposure. Leads initiatives to strategically plan, communicate, deliver and track required EHS employee training. Ensures that training is completed with all team members, including newly onboarded employees. Responsible for site-wide EHS communications; utilize resources from EHS function, participate in Area EHS calls and communicate/distribute materials to site leaders; prepare and provide info at site-wide meetings. Provides direction on EHS Programs, Policies, and Expectations to all site personnel. Collaborates with LDI EHS Director and EHS peers across all LDI business units on EHS programs and initiatives. Maintains knowledge on all existing and proposed changes in State and locate EHS regulations, advising site leadership on potential impacts. Responds to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, by evaluating and recommending the initiation of investigative procedures; Drives corrective actions and key projects for any identified SH&E concerns. Ensures proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies. Serves as the point of contact for all scheduled agency inspections. Actively participate in internal and external discussions and meetings, with auditors, agencies, consultants & EHS corporate staff. Participates in corporate sponsored audits and conducts compliance reviews with facility management. Contributes to the implementation and compliance of ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and OSHA "Star Program" REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS BS degree in engineering or an environmental science degree. 5+ years EHS experience (manufacturing industry preferred) Experience as manager of complex EHS performance, compliance permitting, regulatory issues, projects, and programs. Supervisory experience in planning directing, organizing, and leading the work of EHS professionals and hourly support staff. PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Excellent communication skills (listening, writing, and speaking, presentation/delivery) required. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage through others. Demonstrated ability to actively lead and participate in project teams and team development. Demonstrated ability to analyze, problem solve and make decisions. Demonstrated ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory documents and translates them for others. Demonstrated ability to work independently with moderate supervision. Strong organization skills particularly in managing multiple tasks and prioritization. Excellent attention to detail and the capability to analyze data and draw conclusions. Strong computer literacy (MS Office) with emphasis in spreadsheet software. Occasional travel required.
