WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

As a member of the Nike Men’s Lifestyle and Kobe Brand Product Development team, you will work collaboratively with key functional partners throughout the Product Development process. This includes Footwear Engineering, PCC/PMO Teams, Global Sourcing, Footwear Product Testing, Footwear Material Design and Material Development, Product Design, Product Management, Product Merchandising, Sourcing and Operations, and our overseas partners – both within Nike and external to Nike. You will report to the Footwear Product Development Director in this category.

You will need to navigate the Nike matrix to ensure that our processes model and match Nike Footwear Development standard methodologies for product excellence. You are the key point of contact for our overseas partners and ensure that communication during the product development process is clear and accurate.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Manager of Footwear Product Development, Kobe to be an integral part of our Men’s Lifestyle Product Development Team and help drive product excellence for the Kobe brand! This person will lead the Kobe Development team and provide project and process direction, within the project team, to create highly technical performance product. The ideal candidate needs to have demonstrated proven project management experience, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in a product development setting. In addition, we are looking for people that are self-starters, quick learners, clear communicators, team players and that exhibit strong leadership skills. As a member of our Nike team, we’ll look for you to display an aptitude to gain knowledge of our consumer’s footwear needs and to solve problems that are relevant and impactful. As a member of the Kobe Development team, this person will effectively build relationships, lead, and interact with teams across Nike Footwear Product Creation and with teams comprising of diverse cultures across various countries.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Product Development or Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, Industrial Design or equivalent combination of education, experience or training

  • Minimum of 6 years directly applicable work experience

  • High profile communication and influencing skills, including the ability to interact with leadership and cross functional product creation team members

  • Knowledge of footwear manufacturing technologies and equipment, tooling, and materials is highly preferred

  • Understanding of product planning, forecasting, and process planning with strong communication skills

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

As the Footwear Product Development Manager for Nike’s Men’s Lifestyle and Kobe team, you and your team will work on both highly technical performance product as well as Lifestyle expressions for Brand Kobe. You will also drive product and process excellence within a team environment for your assigned projects and will recommend and specify the material, component and construction to meet key features and performance goals. As a Manager within Product Developer, you will also apply your understanding of sophisticated innovation concepts to the in-line product process and offering. You will apply your expert level of footwear technical knowledge to drive product creation teams through 3D Prototyping, Bottom Tooling, Upper Patterns, Mold Design, Chemical, Materials, Costing, and Manufacturing to achieve project objectives in an efficient, effective, balanced, and timely way.

  • Working on complex footwear projects, you will convert a project brief and a 2D design rendering into a 3D sample that meets the needs of the consumer as well as the needs of the business.

  • You will utilize your knowledge and experience to enhance product excellence.

  • You will engage in all phases of the product process to ensure projects are managed according to critical dates and completed on time, while meeting design intent, performance goals, costing/profitability and sustainability targets.

  • You will ensure that your projects are ready for the commercialization process and can ultimately be manufactured.
