Nike Lead Software Engineer in Beaverton, Oregon

Goals of the Marketing Technology group at Nike:

  • Automate the production of marketing images and video

  • Support Nike’s Marketing team to inspire athletes using digital media

  • Collaborate with media production teams to support their creative process

  • Measure our impact and continually improve our connection to the consumer

The Marketing Asset team will focus on making a scalable management and delivery platform to manage and deliver Nike’s digital media to downstream system such as our CMS, Social and mobile experiences. We will use the cloud to scale our application, and technologies like CDN’s to help provide reliable access to our assets around the globe.

As our Lead Software Engineer with Full stack focus, you will play an important role in developing an innovative and highly scalable platform to Manage (usage rights, permissions, search) and deliver digital assets (image and video) to Nikes downstream system as well as to Nike partners.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • Innovating, architecting, designing, and implementing highly available, scalable systems, focusing on highly visible marketing initiatives

  • Contributing ideas for new features and identifying technical areas for improvement proactively

  • Collaborating with product team members at Nike to design, develop, and deploy a highly scalable digital asset delivery system that is part of our digital asset management platform.

  • Collaborate with upstream and downstream technical teams to develop integrations to provide a seamless flow of our marketing assets from curation to delivery.

  • Provide technical leadership and best engineering practices to continuously deliver working software by mentoring other developers

  • As the Lead Engineer you will use your in-depth experience in software development to write clean, tested, and well-documented code, as well as provide peer code review and mentor other engineers on the team. You will work with your team of engineers as well as across engineer teams and product teams to help build the future systems of our MarTech organization.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH

This role is part of the Asset Management pillar in the Content Technology group within Marketing Technology.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor Degree or a combination of relevant education, training and experience

  • 6+ years’ experience developing highly scalable applications, APIs, and services

  • Very strong with Node Js

  • Experience in micro service architecture, domain driven design, and RESTful Services using languages such as Java, Nodejs, and typescript.

  • 6+ years' experience with designing and tuning relational database (MySQL) and non-relation DB (MongoDB, Dynamo DB).

  • Experience with modern UI frameworks (reactJs, nextjs etc).

  • Experience with unit and end to end integration testing frameworks

  • Experience working with Product Managers and, other development teams to accelerate software development and increase quality.

  • Be a self-starter with a passion for technology and a burning desire to constantly improve yourself, the product, and the codebase

  • Comfortable working within an exciting fast-paced environment by reducing ambiguity and building trust with the team

  • Willingness to explore new technologies and creative solutions

  • Strong at estimating work, planning, organization, and implementing complex software projects

  • Development experience with digital asset management systems like Nuxeo or Alfresco a plus

  • Experience using cloud services to build an integrated application in production (AWS - EC2, ECS, API gateway, Lambda).

  • Familiarity with the challenge of moving large files across a geographically disperse network. Knowledge of different accelerated transfer methods and technologies.

  • Experience with implementing CI/CD and leading teams with DevOps responsibilities of deploying and supporting the software in production

  • Experience with opensearch is a plus.
