Nike Lead Materials Developer - Global Apparel Palette Management in Beaverton, Oregon

This position is based at our exceptionally beautiful campus in Beaverton, Oregon!

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking an innovative and curious Material Developer with a passion for sustainable textiles and trims. This candidate will use their technical materials knowledge, critical thinking, and collaborative skills to deliver creative material solutions. In addition, this candidate will drive analysis and material reviews that result in optimized materials palettes. The candidate will ensure all materials are implemented timely through the commercialization process. Strong abilities in textile development as well as a keen understanding of the product creation process will ensure delivery of exceptional products for our athletes*.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

The person in this position will explore ideas in sustainable textiles from trend through technological advancements. This research will enable the collaboration with our product creation team partners to deliver on the highest level of athlete* experience with a commercialized materials palette grounded in our key sustainability goals. This person will drive material development in partnership with vendors and manufacturing teams from concept to commercialization and crafting efficiency by optimizing existing palette. This includes requesting testing, tracking, data analysis and creative material solutions.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

This is the Nike matrix: We have this position reporting into the Global Apparel Materials Team (GLAM) and support our partners within Apparel including key collaboration with Innovation, Design, Product Merchandising, Technical Development, Sourcing, and Manufacturing teams. The individual in this role will need to work effectively within the materials team to ensure a thoughtful approach to developing new materials and maintain an understanding of how materials perform when in garment form.

WHAT YOU BRING

· Bachelor’s degree in a Textile Science, Apparel, or a related field, or any acceptable combination of education, experience, and training

· We need a minimum of 5 years of apparel industry experience, or 7+ years of industry experience in lieu of a degree

· Technical materials knowledge, including yarns, knitting, weaving, dyeing, printing, and finishing techniques

· Knowledge of knits, wovens, ribs, and print

· Experience partnering with vendors to develop and test a material from inception to production

· Outstanding verbal and written communications skills - outgoing personality with the ability to influence others!

· Digital literacy, including Microsoft Office applications and Product Data Management; Smartsheet and Tableau experience is a plus

· Experience leading multiple projects with competing resources and time targets across multiple seasons

· Strong information seeking-skills and a drive for results

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse group

· Ability to network and apply internal and external resources

· Experience working with sustainable materials is highly desired

· Knowledge of industry material trends

· Ability to travel up to approximately 10% of the time
