Job Summary/Basic Function
About This Role:
The director of football operations assists the head football coach in running certain aspects of the football program at Lamar University. The position requires a commitment to compliance and academics leading to graduation of student-athletes. The position requires active involvement in the community for fundraising purposes. Strict adherence to established NCAA , Southland Conference, Texas State University System and Lamar University rules and regulations is required.
What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities:
Plan and oversee all aspects of football team travel, including buses, flights, hotels, meals, and itineraries. Develop and maintain travel lists, rooming assignments, and transportation logistics. Conduct advance site visits to ensure hotels have proper meeting space. Assist with Chrome River travel processing for head coach and assistant coaches.
Manage on-campus meals, including coordinating bids with Chartwells and outside vendors. Track off-campus housing addresses for all players. Oversee summer job placements where applicable. Handle graduate assistants’ admissions, housing, and in-season meals. Maintain oversight of player nutrition and coordinate needs with the team dietitian.
Provide detailed oversight of the football operations budget, including purchase tracking. Oversee the equipment manager, equipment room operations, and related budgets. Assist in ordering facility and office needs as required.
Oversee the hiring and job responsibilities of the Academic/Operations GA. Organize and facilitate alumni meetings and fundraisers with the GA. Oversee student hiring for student assistant positions and approve timesheets. Ensure efficiency in meal planning to minimize waste and track which staff are on meal plans.
Keep TeamWorks updated with player and staff addresses, emails, and calendars. Ensure effective communication with staff and support personnel regarding meetings and calendar adjustments. Maintain structured coordination of non-student-athlete affairs within the software program.
Organize and facilitate alumni engagement initiatives and fundraisers. Act as the primary liaison for alumni relations and coordinate with development staff.
Performs other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

Detail oriented approach to scheduling, budgeting, and operations management.
Experience overseeing staff, including student and graduate assistants.
Able to tolerate flexible work hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements: Ability to continuously interact with public (internal or external). Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, kneel, twist, lift and carry up to 25lbs.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
1-3 years relevant experience related to the essential job functions.
