Responsibilities SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Serves as the Recruit Store Manager in a store with an annual sales volume of $10M - $49.9M and drives the implementation of corporate programs by motivating and supporting the store leadership teams to develop and implement action plans that meet key operational objectives. Reports to the Director of Retail or Director of Business Operations. Responsible for direct communication with the Recruit Training Regiment at multiple levels regarding new merchandise requests, merchandise quality concerns, store support requests, and the execution of all recruit issue processes. Leads by example to shape and sustain a working environment conducive to the successful performance of those entrusted to his/her leadership and direction; and creating a positive atmosphere and culture within Business Operations and its constituent branches that reflect the pride, professionalism, sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, collaborative engagement, well-being, and whole-hearted customer focus of its employees. Plans, identifies, communicates, and delegates key responsibilities and practices to the store leadership team to ensure smooth flow of operations within the store. Coordinates schedules with multiple Depot Agencies to support the accessions of USMC Recruits weekly; required to manage around holidays and/or destructive weather to continue operations without interruption. Reviews store environments and key business indicators to identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement to direct and coach the store leadership team to act and achieve operational goals. Manages through critical organizational change to keep store location operating to standard while inspiring a change ready environment and building change agility. Provides annual projections to vendors and HQ Buying Teams based on recruit shipping projections to facilitate the production and procurement of merchandise annually. Assists HQ in negotiating cost prices and setting the retail prices of recruit merchandise to ensure the best value is passed to the recruits while maintaining the profitability of the site(s). Creates implementation plans and plans of action & milestones to support execution of district and corporate initiatives to achieve both operational excellence and business results. Follows up consistently with store leadership to ensure accountability to execution of plans. Monitors and manages staffing levels. Ensures management-level staff development and talent acquisition to achieve and maintain store operational requirements. Utilizes business-based tools to identify and prioritize communications and filters communications to the store leadership teams. Communicates clearly, concisely, and accurately to ensure effective operations at the store level. Collaborates with other Store Managers to build best practices and alignment to standard retail operations. Utilizes management information tools, business analytics, metrics, and corporate business information systems to analyze financial reports to identify and address trends and issues in performance; develops action plans with store leadership to correct deficiencies. Ensures total store compliance with all corporate policies and communicates these policies to all employees in a developmental, associate-oriented manner. Monitors backroom processes ensuring effective operations while developing store-level accountability and process management. Builds internal decision-making capability and confidence among store leadership teams using information-based statistics, rationale, ownership, and accountability. Manages annual or periodic physical inventory and ensures that the approved retail inventory method is consistent with HQ regulations. Actively engages in organizational training opportunities that develop personal and professional skills related to time management, emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, career planning, public speaking, and small group leadership. Performs other related duties as assigned. The incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 20lbs independently and objects over 20lbs with assistance. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business management or a related field appropriate to the work of position and three years of experience in the occupation, or a related field or work area, OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR appropriate experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above. At least two years of supervisory experience in the retail field is required. Must have a strong operational background and possess a demonstrated ability to lead and direct a large, diverse workforce. Ability to partner and coach store teams in multiple stores independently and skill to supervise employees in the completion of work. Knowledge of big-box store retail operations within hardlines or soft lines environments. Knowledge of organization and planning skills, change leadership skills, customer-centric operational skills, supervisory and team-building skills. Experience analyzing and connecting financial reports to operational performance. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of business process controls and system development.
