Summary:

Our client is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Pathologist to join their team. Under general direction, you will be responsible for providing speech and language assessment and therapy to students in accordance with their Individualized Family Service Plan, Individual Education Plan , or Interim Individual Education Plan. You will collaborate with parents and team members to create an impactful service experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting comprehensive speech and language assessments to determine students' developmental levels and needs and preparing written summaries for regulatory agencies.

  • Planning and delivering speech and language interventions aligned with established goals.

  • Implementing evaluation procedures to monitor student progress, while providing reports to Early Intervention, Committee on Preschool Special Education, and Committee on Special Education.

  • Assessing oral motor development and creating treatment plans tailored to identified disabilities.

  • Staying current on alternative communication techniques and implementing the appropriate use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication devices.

  • Offering training sessions on AAC device utilization and techniques.

  • Maintaining accurate attendance and progress records.

  • Regularly communicating with parents/guardians regarding therapy progress.

  • Participating actively in team meetings, case conferences, and the Initial Evaluation and Intake processes.

  • Completing documentation accurately and promptly.

  • Providing supervision and mentorship to students and Clinical Fellowship Year candidates as assigned.

  • Performing additional duties as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology.

  • Current NY State License in Speech and Language Pathology.

  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency required.

  • NYSED Certification as a Teacher of Speech and Hearing is mandatory; bilingual candidates should possess NYSED TSSH Certification with Bilingual Extension.

  • Prior experience in speech therapy is preferred (1 year).

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Assistive Technology and Augmentative Communication techniques preferred.

  • Capable of handling multiple tasks within a dynamic environment and maintaining confidentiality.

  • Physical ability to lift and position students and handle various physical demands involved in the role.

The salary range for this position is $43-$45/hour
