Eastern Suffolk BOCES Administrative Coordinator for Adult Literacy - FT (Assistant Principal Level) in Bay Shore, New York
POSITION: Administrative Coordinator for Adult Literacy - FT (Assistant Principal Level)ESBOCES is looking for an experienced educator who values diversity, equity and inclusion, and who has experience navigating multiple constituents, agencies and audiences to run successful programming in support of those who are underserved and historically marginalized. This critical position reports to the Divisional Administrator for Career, Technical and Adult Education, and serves as a leader within the department, agency and the region as an advocate to support out-of-school youth and adults to become literate, earn a high school equivalency diploma, learn English, obtain skills necessary for employment, and economic self-sufficiency.BUILDING: Bay Shore Adult Education Center, Bay Shore, NY Various Locations, Suffolk County, NYQUALIFICATIONS: NYS SDA or SDL CertificationLeadership experience (preferred)Computer proficiency (including Microsoft Suite-WORD, EXCEL and PowerPoint, and Google Docs)Demonstrate commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environmentRESPONSIBILITIES:This position supports teachers and students in programs that run from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday. The successful candidate will flex their schedule to support day and evening programs when they are in session.Assist in the supervision of funded programs including, but not limited to: Employment Preparation Education (EPE) and Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA)Monitor the development and evaluation of literacy and career pathway curriculumProvide support to teachers including offering instructional resources, conducting classroom observations and providing feedbackStrong communication and problem-solving skillsAssist in organizing, coordinating, and tracking multiple initiatives, including initiatives to attract diverse student and staff clientele to increase enrollment and broaden servicesOversee the onboarding process for new personnel by providing thorough training and orientation that ensures new staff feel equipped and supported in their rolesProvide support and direct program staff and evening supervisors to perform responsibilities related to the supervision of teachers, career planning specialists, vocational advisors, and office personnelVisit all locations and meet with site-based staff before classes begin to ensure conditions are conducive for learningContinually engage with a myriad of professional and self-improvement practicesActively promote diversity, equity and inclusion practices throughout the agencyExpand relationships and establish partnerships with local businesses and community organizations to enhance student outcomesCoordinate recruitment events, networking, and career fairsManage multiple work streams, deadlines, and projects simultaneouslyAssist in collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to illustrate student success and program impact; serve as a data drive thought leaderServe on a collaborative leadership team that innovates and evolves programmingSTART DATE: As soon as possibleSALARY: $132,805.00Studies show that women and members of some groups are more likely to underestimate their qualifications for a position.
