McLaren Health Care Resident - McLaren Careers in Bay City, Michigan

Position Summary:

Participates in the Program of training performed in the Continuity of Care Clinic, PCIM Service, and Clinical Rotations, is of high quality, and meets the standards established by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP), and the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine Statewide Campus System (MSUCOM-SCS), and the Medical Education & Training Committee at McLaren Bay Region.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1.

Acts in conjunction with an assigned mentor consistently exercises discretion and judgment in performing clinical work, which is predominantly intellectual and varied in nature within the scope of practice.

2.

Gives presentations of a didactic nature on an intermittent basis.

3.

Works cooperatively with the DME and Chief Resident:

a.

All charts need to be completed in a timely fashion.

  • Inpatient by Staff Rules – no delinquent charts.

  • Outpatient by Clinic Policy – same day completion.

  • Obtains all necessary physician notes, signatures, and attestations as applicable within 14 days.

b.

Timeliness at all assignments, encounters, and lectures, i.e., rotations, Morning Report, Journal Club, Didactics, Clinic Management Meeting, etc.

c.

Notifies the Family and Child Health Clinic and/or the attending physician and the Graduate Medical Education Office of any changes in clinic scheduling in a timely fashion.

d.

Participates in the Compliance Program of McLaren Bay Region:

  • Continues to utilize monitors.

  • Documents and verify billing completely.

  • Be aware of the appropriateness of care.

  • Participates in criteria development.

  • Knowledge of the Compliance Program and HIPAA of McLaren Bay Region.

e.

Complies with all Core Competency requirements.

f.

Develops a collegial relationship with peers, mentors and teachers.

g.

Interns, Residents and Medical Students will cooperatively assist each other as they progress in the GME program.

h.

Embraces and practices the principles of STARS and Customer Service initiatives.

4.

Assures that the quality of training performed in the Continuity of Care Clinic is of high quality, and meets the standards established by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP), Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine Statewide Campus System (MSUCOM-SCS), and the Medical Education & Training Committee of McLaren Bay Region.

5.

Assists in setting short-term and long-term goals and plans, as well as establishing and

maintaining systems, policies and procedures, and standards for the clinic.

6.

Performs procedures only under appropriate supervision.

7.

Assesses patients and formulates patient care plan.

8.

Performs rounds on assigned rotation patients.

9.

Completes admit, progress, transfer, procedure, and discharge notes, and other documentation related to the work in a timely fashion.

10.

Writes orders; discusses appropriateness of orders with attending physician or other appropriate party. Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, in a positive, consistent, enthusiastic, and open manner with internal and external customers, including patients/residents, staff, physicians, leadership, volunteers, and the general public.

11.

Creates and maintains internal and external relationships necessary to effectively accomplish job related functions.

12.

Maintains confidentiality in patient, personnel, and donor communications.

13.

Demonstrates a caring respect for the dignity of all others.

14.

Communicates with individuals about issues as they arise, in a direct and timely manner.

15.

Demonstrates a willingness to listen first to understand.

16.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree or Medical Doctor (MD) degree

  • Possess Educational Limited License issued by the State ofMichigan.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

  • BLS
