ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

Role Profile

Position: Warehouse Technician

Job Location: Baton Rouge, LA

Job Type: Full-Time

Status: Non-Exempt

Summary of the Role

The Warehouse Technician will manage all activities related to the functioning of the warehouse in order to meet or exceed customer expectations and to achieve facility and company goals.

Responsibilities

  • Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures.

  • Receives incoming shipments into inventory, posts in online system and places items in warehouse

  • Identifying any missing, lost or damaged materials and immediately notify the supervisor.

  • Picks product in warehouse and prepares items for pick up, delivery or shipping

  • Package and ship through UPS, Fed Ex, and LTL Motor Freight

  • Assist with staging local shipments for VMI delivery and Hot Shots

  • Handles customer pickups

  • Makes recommendations to management with respect to product and process improvements

  • Assists with physical inventory

  • Properly label and store received goods for future identification and retrieval

  • Maintain all warehouse locations, bins, and racks in a neat and orderly fashion

  • Properly keep designated stocking locations stocked as required

  • Pull stock for all “Pick- Pack-Ship” orders for daily customers

  • Provide correct parts and materials for daily production orders

  • Performs other related duties as required

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic computer skills in MS Office, internet and email

  • Experience working in ERP or Inventory system such as P21 a plus

  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory software and to create packing list

  • Self-starter

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Applicants should possess the ability to interact with customers, and team-members in a professional manner. Some leadership experience a plus.

  • Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Requires a proficiency in math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in units of measure. Additionally, must be able to perform calculations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.

  • Strong organizational and housekeeping skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

  • 1-3 years of related warehousing or production experience

  • High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience

  • Reliable transportation is a must

  • Ability to work overtime, as required

  • Ability to work nights and weekends, as required

  • Ability to interact professionally with all employees and customers

  • Must be able to work independently

  • Ability to pull, push, grasp, bend, lift and carry up to 50lbs independently on a repeated basis.

  • Ability to consistently move throughout the facility during the full workday

  • Ability to comprehend work instruction and safety procedures, written or verbally

  • Ability to count and measure accurately

  • Ability to properly and safely use mechanical equipment and handtools

  • Background checks and drug screening may be required (by Company, Customer or DOT requirements in working on-site and operating equipment as required or permitted by law)

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Must have a mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn about how our products are produced on equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an industrial setting

  • Requires excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload and be able to interact effectively with all types of people

  • ERP experience, P21 a plus
