Job Summary/Purpose

Responsible for political issue resolution, use of customer accounting systems (i.e. CCS, ACS, BW) and other similar systems as appropriate to the job scope), and the communication plan of stakeholder interactions.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with and educate local community, non-profit leaders and state and federal political officials to gain support on issues affecting our customers and programs.

  • Collaborate with leadership to plan strategy for corporate and Op Co giving which supports our communities as well as our corporate giving goals.

  • Work with key partners in the state to increase the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), a vital part of helping low-income working families. VITA volunteers provide free income tax assistance to taxpayers, and help them claim important tax credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit.

  • Work with Washington DC staff and partner utilities to encourage congressional delegates and staff to advocate for LIHEAP program expansion and fair allocation of funds to our state.

  • Facilitate and conduct corporate community events, manage employee volunteers and volunteer projects, and conduct presentations internally and externally on program expertise state-wide and nationally.

  • Coordinate fundraising opportunities for utility assistance program as well as Entergy fundraisers with exceeded sponsorship dollars raised every year.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with political, business and key community constituents, complaint/issue resolution.

  • Resolve escalated customer issues from state representatives, senators, executive complaints, phone center and media.

  • Manage and track state specific Corporate Contributions budget.

  • Support all PAC-activities.

  • Entergy’s Public Affairs’ liaison between operations, engineering and customers to ensure the highest level of customer service.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

  • Typically requires a college or university degree in related field or the equivalent work experience

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Public Affairs Representative II: at least 2 plus years relevant work experience

  • Public Affairs Representative Sr: at least 4 plus years relevant work experience

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

  • Incumbents must have working knowledge of public affairs policies, products, and processes so as to efficiently and effectively investigate and resolve public affairs/governmental issues.

  • Requires a working knowledge of regulatory rules and regulations governing utility service in various jurisdictions.

  • Must be skilled in negotiations and be able to maintain professional posture and composure when dealing with difficult situations or customers.

  • Strong skillset with Entergy's Microsoft Office toolkit for the purpose of producing accurate and concise reports, analyses, and presentations suitable for use with executives, regulators, and key constituents outside of the Company.

  • Skilled in managing multiple projects with the ability to adequately assess and assign priorities ensuring that commitments and schedules are met.

  • Demonstrated willingness to take ownership of assignments and issues, working to closure while facilitating and coordinated resources needed for proper resolution.

  • Strong written and verbal skills are necessary to ensure that the Company is represented in the most professional manner with each engagement.
