PROGRAM DIRECTOR FOR OUTPATIENT FACILITY

The Program Director coordinates and integrates service delivery for the program. Maintains accountability for the professional standards and writes and implements policies and procedures. The Program Director will deliver services as needed within the scope of their licensure and are charged to administratively supervise program staff. The program director is responsible for implementing an effective multidisciplinary system of care.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSinclude but are not limited to the following:

  1. Responsible for supervision of LPN's, MHT's, and contracted clinicians, laboratory, x-ray or pharmacy services providers in order to ensure appropriate standards of patient care are consistent and within the Apollo Behavioral Hospital outpatient guidelines as well as applicable state and federal laws
  2. Establish program plan for efficient and effective services.
  3. Demonstrate and foster effective community/state/federal relationships
  4. Work within budgetary constraints to implement programs.
  5. Recruit and retain staff that possesses the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to work effectively in the program.
  6. Establish and oversee the outpatient services quality assurance program.
  7. Monitor and improve the quality of services provided
  8. Monitor and Improve the quality of documentation
  9. Monitor and Improve Patient Safety and Infection Control
  10. Monitor and Improve the quality of Contracted Services
  11. Monitor and Improve Community Education
  12. Monitor and Improve Daily Attendance and Census against projected goals
  13. Monitor and Improve Staff Education and Training
  14. Any other duties assigned by the Administrator and or CEO
  15. Perform clinical duties associated with the outpatient and within the scope of their licensure such as RN or Clinician duties.

CLINICAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

  1. Assists with nursing quality improvement contributions for problem identification, investigation, actions, and monitoring of resolutions in effecting patient care and customer satisfaction systems
  2. Participates in both short and long range planning of nursing activities and program evaluation
  3. Interprets and facilitates appropriate nursing actions in response to administrative directives and a changing healthcare environment
  4. Assists in coordination of infection control data collection monitoring and recommendations in the patient care setting
  5. Assesses new patients within 8 hours of admission
  6. Provides individual nursing care as order by the physician
  7. Manages medication administration including monitoring and storage on a daily basis
  8. Management of therapeutic milieu
  9. Participates in interdisciplinary formulation of individual treatment plans
  10. Provision of specialized treatments and therapies such as individual, group, and family therapies, requiring the clinical expertise of a professional psychiatric nurse
  11. Dictates and writes progress notes for one to one and group sessions in accordance with Apollo Behavioral Health Hospital outpatient policies and procedures
  12. Organize and coordinate special programs and activities based on patient needs which may include communicable disease control, tuberculosis control, sexually transmitted disease and AIDS prevention and control
  13. Must stay abreast of federal, state, and local laws and regulations complying with infection control and employee health standards
  14. Collaborates with other disciplines and Medical Director providing information and assistance in the revision of treatment schedules
  15. Participates as an active member of multidisciplinary team with input into patient treatment planning and the development of nursing portion
  16. Assists in coordinating risk management activities to reduce or eliminate patient/staff/visitor injuries, illnesses, death, and/or financial loss.
  17. Screens patients for appropriateness and obtains admissio orders from attending physician
  18. Completes and signs necessary admission paperwork and other required documentation within guidelines mandated by law and applicable hospital policies and procedures.
